Plenty of parkland just seconds from home
Stadium Park borders the neighborhood to the west. This spot has sports fields, playgrounds and the mile-and-a-half Herbert Fisher Walking Track. It is also home to the Canton Garden Center; in addition to being a beautiful spot for a walk or even a wedding, the center serves as a source of free gardening information. Complete with a pond and an oak-lined creek, this park is a scenic community spot with 68 acres of picnic areas. South of Stadium Park is Monument Park, also known as the McKinley Memorial Park, home to the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum. The 4.5-mile-long West Branch Trail links most parks in the area. ForeverLawn Sports Complex, about 2 miles from home, hosts youth sports tournaments as well as the McKinley High School football team’s practices. The Canton Museum of Art, about 1.5 miles east of West Park, showcases American art from the 1800s to the present.Early 1900s homes with character
Most houses were built around the 1920s and have retained their vintage charm, sitting close together while dense, century-old trees line the linear residential streets. “The lots here are city plots, so they’ll be considerably smaller than those in, say, North Canton,” says Donahue. The average single-family home is around 1,600 square feet with a lot size of about an eighth-acre. Many homes have front porches and detached garages, and some streets of West Park are still paved in brick. Popular architectural styles include Colonial Revivals, American Foursquares, bungalows and Tudor Revivals. Prices range from $90,000 to $200,000.The Canton City School District
The Canton City School District serves the residents of West Park. Students can begin their education at Worley Elementary School and Crenshaw Middle School, both of which earned a C-minus. Students can continue at McKinley Senior High School, which scored a C. McKinley has a rigorous athletics program and is a high-ranking school for athletes. The high school is known for its football team, the McKinley Bulldogs, and their famous rivalry with Washington High’s Massillon Tigers. According to Boylan, many students either walk or take the city bus to school.A nearby haven for football fans
As the birthplace of NFL and American football, Canton is home to the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum. Both venues are less than a mile away from many West Park homes. The Hall of Fame Village is a retail and entertainment destination built around the museum. Still a work in progress, the comprehensive entertainment outlet will include a sports complex and stadium, a performance center and a fan engagement zone. “The Hall of Fame Entertainment Company is building onto its current venues. It will be hiring 15,000 new employees, becoming the biggest employer in Canton,” says Mike Boylan, a top Ohio realtor with more than 20 years of experience.Getting around West Park

This spot has a warm atmosphere, with dim lighting, leather seats and accents of intricate wood detailing around the bar.
