A balanced blend of old and new
Sitting along the east bank of the West Branch Nimishillen Creek, West Park is a historic, mile-long neighborhood in Canton. “This is a scenic area with beautiful old homes; it’s also very close to Canton’s downtown art district, restaurants and entertainment venues,” says Preston Donahue, a Canton Realtor with Keller Williams Legacy Group Realty. Bordering Stadium Park, landmark museums, monuments and green spaces, West Park blends old-school character with lively modern venues and spirited residents. “You’ll see people running up and down the stairs and exercising at McKinley Monument, which is the final resting place of William McKinley, our 25th president,” says Donahue.

Early 1900s homes with character
Most houses were built around the 1920s and have retained their vintage charm, sitting close together while dense, century-old trees line the linear residential streets. “The lots here are city plots, so they’ll be considerably smaller than those in, say, North Canton,” says Donahue. The average single-family home is around 1,600 square feet with a lot size of about an eighth-acre. Many homes have front porches and detached garages, and some streets of West Park are still paved in brick. Popular architectural styles include Colonial Revivals, American Foursquares, bungalows and Tudor Revivals. Prices range from $90,000 to $200,000.

As the birthplace of NFL and American football, Canton is home to the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum. Both venues are less than a mile away from many West Park homes. The Hall of Fame Village is a retail and entertainment destination built around the museum. It will be hiring 15,000 new employees, becoming the biggest employer in Canton,” says Mike Boylan, a top Ohio realtor with more than 20 years of experience.
