The perks of living in Arrow Head-North Carson
As its name suggests, Arrow Head-North Carson rests at the northern end of Carson City. Its mountainous surroundings are a playground for outdoor lovers, and relatively large lot sizes provide space and seclusion. While it’s set apart from some of the city’s commotion, residents still have convenient access to travel, city parks and other amenities.
Finding a home with some land in Carson City
“There are two areas of Carson where you can buy a home with land, and Arrow Head-North Carson is one,” says Garrett Lepire, Realtor with Re/Max Gold, who was born and raised in Carson City. “When I have someone who calls me and says, ‘I want some land,’ we look there.” The average lot size is around an acre, which gives homeowners a sense of privacy, as well as space to store large vehicles, build outbuildings or, in some cases, even keep horses. The majority of homes were custom built in the late 1900s, but there are also some newer developments in the southern part of the area.
Houses with less than an acre of land typically sell from the upper $300,000s to the mid $600,000s, while those with an acre or more may range from the low $500,000s to the upper $900,000s.
Exploring the mountains and parks, and other things to do
Arrow Head-North Carson holds a big appeal for people who enjoy nature. “There’s beautiful scenery and the mountains as a backdrop,” Lepire says. Multiuse trails wind through the northern end of the community, making it easy to hop on your mountain bike or off-road vehicle and escape into the hills. Washoe Lake State Park is less than 10 miles away, with a boat launch and space for camping, and Lake Tahoe is about 25 miles west.
Other recreation areas include the JohnD Winters Centennial Park Complex, which is in the southeastern section of the neighborhood. It has everything from softball fields and tennis courts to an archery range. The Eagle Valley Golf Course, right beside it, offers a choice of two 18-hole courses that are open to the public.
