Twin Lakes
Suburban Neighborhood in Cary, North Carolina
Wake County 27560
Taking inspiration from New England
When the Twin Lakes community first opened, it sold out of its first 100 homes within the first week. Now, “It’s an increasingly popular area,” says Ashleigha Maksim, a Realtor with Real Broker, LLC. "The houses are fairly traditional, with an early 2000s style.” Stewart based the designs on her own homes in New York, Connecticut and Maine. Single-family and townhouses feature elements like large dining rooms with wainscoting details and built-in window seats ideal for curling up with a book. Or watching neighbors walk by on the sidewalks that loop into cul-de-sacs shaded by mature trees and pristine bushes. A two-bedroom townhouse will start around $350,000. Single-family homes with three to four bedrooms will range from $500,000 to $850,000.Chilling poolside in Twin Lakes
For a quiet fishing spot, Hatchs Pond is located right in the neighborhood. Residents have just a short walk to the Twin Lakes pool featuring a large twisting water slide, playscape and clubhouse. Less than 2 miles away, Carpenter Park has over 16 acres that include a communal garden, a pond, playground, picnic tables, and courts. Its most unique feature is a live bush maze with vines imported from Canada. Another outdoor escape to the south is Morrisville Community Park, featuring multipurpose sports fields and a playground. For inside athletics, the NetSports athletic club has indoor soccer leagues, pickleball and summer camps for kids.Top schools with winning athletics
Students in Twin Lakes attend Wake County Public Schools. They begin their education at Cedar Fork Elementary before progressing to West Cary Middle. Both schools are highly rated, earning an A on Niche. The A-plus-rated Panther Creek High was named the 11th best Public High School in North Carolina by Niche. It is home to nearly 2,500 students and maintained a graduation rate of 97.4% in the 2021-2022 school year. Panther Creek has an active athletics department with many teams winning state and district championships in their sport. In 2023, the Panther Creek girls' basketball team won the NCHSAA 4A state championship.Getting to the park, airport or downtown
Twin Lakes is 7 miles north of the Research Triangle Park, a major regional employment hub. “Twin Lakes has a nice, easy commute,” Maksim says. “It’s fairly close to the park, and there’s quick access to Raleigh-Durham International Airport if you need to travel.” All the excitement of Downtown Cary can be reached in less than 6 miles.Stores and restaurants right along the neighborhood
Conveniently located, “Twin Lakes is very walkable, with plenty of grocery stores and restaurants bordering the neighborhood,” says Maksim. “They’ve even opened a Wegmans right in the area.” One of the biggest draws to Twins Lakes is that it features its own shopping hub, McCrimmon Corners, across the street on Davis Drive. This center houses Harris Teeter, a few supply stores and medical facilities. There are also independent eateries like Two Guys Grille, known for its beach-inspired American grub, and Hyderabad House Biryani Place with its popular Indian buffet. Along with McCrimmon Corners, Davis Drive has various professional services, beauty salons, restaurants, and convenience stores sprinkled along the neighborhood’s west side.
