West Cary balances urban amenities with rural environs.
Right at the heart of growth
Located at the heart of one of the Triangle’s fastest growing suburbs, West Cary offers its residents access to larger metropolitan areas—while maintaining a small-town feel with its own unique identity. A blend of urban excitement and suburban charm, West Cary is located just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the Raleigh-Durham area. “The whole town of Cary is growing like wild,” says Joe Matthews, owner of Real Triangle Properties and longtime resident of the area. “It has a mix of convenient location and it’s also very serene.” With all it has to offer, those who call West Cary home can look forward to relaxing days outdoors, nights out on the town, and a sense of community all its own.
Some two-story homes add a rustic charm to the West Cary neighborhood.
Classic styles and new developments
While the area is bursting with new and exciting development, many of the houses in the neighborhood reflect classic styles and vintage charm. Ranch styles are particularly common, though potential homebuyers will also find cottages, split levels, and turnkey modern contemporary builds. Homes in Cary can be tough to find, however—a reflection of the area’s growth. “There isn’t a lot of availability right now,” says Matthews. Prices for a single-family home in the neighborhood range from $385,000 to $1.2 million. Townhouses and condominiums are also available, with those prices ranging from $250,000 to $500,000.
West Cary residents support Esteamed Coffee both for their treats as well as their mission.
No need to go far for shopping and dining
While residents always have the option to head to Raleigh for their shopping and dining needs, those in West Cary can easily fill their shopping baskets and bellies without leaving the neighborhood. Cary’s continued growth has led to an explosion of amenities to take advantage of, and residents can start their day off right at Esteamed Coffee. For lunch, local favorite Salvio’s Pizza offers classic pies. After work, residents can meet up with friends and grab drinks at Tribeca Tavern. For grocery needs, residents can knock out their shopping lists at Harris Teeter or Publix.
West Cary residents of all ages enjoy the walkability of Downtown Cary.
Film buffs love the Cary Film Festival
Cary is known for its community spirit, with a unique identity separate from Raleigh-Durham. The Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts festival is known nationally as one of the top crafts fairs and artisan showcases in the country. The event is held directly in Downtown Cary, allowing residents the best possible seats. Cary’s historic movie theater—known as The Cary—hosts the Beyond: The Cary Film Festival every year, featuring a weekend of cinema, industry professionals, and emerging film makers together.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
