Lake Dalecarlia, or “Lake Dale,” is a community-oriented neighborhood with affluent homes and proximity to nearby lakes. Homebuyers will find the community is big on helping one another and being thoughtful. “For the 25 years that I’ve lived here, we have been there for each other and come together when we need each other. All the POA members are volunteers. We give our time because we appreciate our community,” says Lake Dale’s Property Owner’s Association member J.L. “When we get big rains, we fill sandbags and take them to elderly residents. It’s just what we do.” Lake Dalecarlia homes are grand and upscale. These are all single-family homes with large private acre lots. It’s a rural area, so houses can be scattered unless it’s within a subdivision. Subdivisions are enhanced with maintained lawns and luscious trees. It’s common for neighbors to take jogs along the sidewalks or walk the dog. Between $500,000 and $1 million, homes are brick custom builds with four bedrooms and a two-car garage. For over $1 million, custom builds are given Mediterranean flair. Homes are enhanced with over 6,000 square feet of space, private cul-de-sacs, and in-ground pools. Meet up with neighbors and enjoy several lake activities all year round. “We go out on our boats all the time. We go fishing, skiing and tubing in the summer,” says Lake Dalecarlia’s POA member. “Once a month, we take our pontoon boats out, bring some food, and drinks and have a great time.” Lemon Lake County Park was the first park in Lake County, dedicated in 1972. Residents of all ages use the 402 acres to their full advantage. Spend an afternoon competing with the family on the five disc golf courses. Throw some kabobs on the barbeque grills and eat within the picnic areas. Other leisurely activities are the playground and walking trails. Furry children will go crazy running through the off-leash dog park. Fairways Golf Course is a local spot to get into a quick swing for an inexpensive amount. Students may attend their studies in the Hanover Community School Corporation. Jane Bell Elementary can start students from grade kindergarten through fourth grade. This school holds an A-minus on Niche and has before and after-school programs. Hanover Central Middle School also holds an A-minus on Niche. Honor classes are offered to students with outstanding academic performance. Hanover Central High School has a B-plus on Niche. Dual enrollment and AP courses are options for student participation. Students can also mingle within the 12 clubs offered. The area is surrounded by local pubs that entertain folks until the wee morning hours. The Dam Bar and Grill is an American pub restaurant. Locals are drawn to their comfort dishes of shrimp carbonara and Oyster Rockefeller. The Lighthouse gives locals lakeside views of neighboring Cedar Lake. Have an elegant date night sipping a fine glass of wine and munching on savory seafood and steak dishes. Satisfy any sweet cravings with their array of cookies, cakes, and ice cream desserts. Strack & Van Til can check off all the weekly grocery items. Adventurous children may enjoy their summers at the YMCA’s Triangle Hills Camp and Retreat Center campground. They can spend the summer participating in obstacle-filled activities, including rope courses, wall climbing and slip and slide. Lake County Fairgrounds are located 4 miles north. This space holds events frequently, but the biggest draw is the Lake County Fair held in August. Take the family out for a day of rides, comforting sweets and snacks, and livestock. Franciscan Health Crown Point is 3 miles north. This local hospital offers 20 services to patients. Interstate 65 sits east of Lake Dale. That puts residents in the direction to head north to Chicago or south towards Lafayette.
