Single-family housing styles include 1,500- to 3,000-square-foot bungalows and Colonial Revivals with Craftsman and contemporary influences built in the 1980s and ‘90s, priced between $330,000 and $650,000. There are also 3,000- to 4,000-square-foot New Traditional and Italianate-style estates, many with in-ground pools and second-floor balconies, built in the early 2000s and priced from $650,000 to $800,000. Buttercup Creek Cave Preserve, located just west of the neighborhood, provides miles of dirt walking trails through the forest, following different cave openings that are marked with educational plaques. There’s no parking in the area, but residents can enter the trail through several access points, one being from the Maurice Drive cul-de-sac. The neighborhood has multiple pocket parks with playgrounds, including Kay Redden Park, Prize Oaks Park and Janet Bartles Park. In addition to a playground, Buttercup Creek Park also features an outdoor pool with a slide. A daily pass to the pool, which is open to the public, is free for children younger than 3 and $3 for adults.Just south of Buttercup Creek, Lakeline Park draws a crowd on Fridays to its free summer concert series. “They get bands like Suede, which has a huge following, and food trucks,” Ellis says. The park also has a playground, athletic facilities and a kayak launch into the reservoir. Nearby on Bell Boulevard, the name of US Route 183 through this part of Cedar Creek, the Texas Farmers Market is open on Saturdays year-round. Recently under new ownership, the farmers market is now more centralized in Cedar Park and the first of more retail to come to the development. Next door, the Cedar Park Public Library expanded in 2001 to its current 25,500-square-foot building, complete with both indoor and outdoor children’s play areas.
Errands and dining around Lakeline Village and Lakeline Mall
On the south side of Buttercup Creek, the Shoppes at Lakeline Village allows for quick grocery runs and local dining options. In addition to Sprouts Farmers Market and Randalls, this retail plaza includes fitness studios, medical clinics, fast-food spots and popular sit-down restaurants. Levant offers Mediterranean cuisine, and Salerno is an Italian eatery with a selection of pastas, seafood, pizza and cocktails. Bitelo is a white-tablecloth Brazilian steakhouse, and TopSpin is a neighborhood karaoke bar with other pub games.About a mile south on 183, the Lakeline Mall features Macy’s, JCPenney and Dillard’s. More retail and dining surround the mall, including Target, Sam’s Club and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a theater that shows both old and new films with beverage and appetizer service.
Shows at the H-E-B Center and day trips east to Round Rock
Buttercup Creek residents are just 4 miles away from the H-E-B Center, where the Texas Stars AHL hockey team plays. The arena also hosts a lineup of rodeos, basketball games, concerts and other live events. About 10 miles east, the city of Round Rock offers more entertainment. The Dell Diamond is home to the Round Rock Express minor league baseball team. Visitors can also head to the Round Rock Premium Outlets or Kalahari Resort, one of the largest indoor waterparks in the country.Car-dependent community with access to Highway 183
Several bike lanes weave through Buttercup Creek, but the community in general is car-dependent. US 183 cuts across the east side of the neighborhood, helping to make Downtown Austin a 20-mile commute south and the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport a 25-mile drive to the other side of the city.
