Waterside homes in Sandhurst
Most residences in Sandhurst are brick homes with driveways and attached garages. Buyers will find ranch-style houses, two-story homes with colonial influences and Tudor-inspired dwellings. Housing prices depend heavily on square footage and proximity to the water. Properties along the marshy river can range in price between $775,000 to $1.5 million. Homes farther inland can range in price from $550,000 to $850,000. West Ashley is known for its flood-prone communities. Some nearby neighborhoods recently received newly installed pumps to reduce the impact of flooding.Access points to the Ashley River and nearby parks
Northbridge Park sits along a causeway on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. Overlooking the Ashley River, the park has a pier and a floating dock for canoes. There's also a small beach. "Ashley River has lots of fishing, sailing, lots of boating, you name it," Dangerfield says. Locals may also access the river at county boat launches about 5 miles away. Pierpoint Boat Launch is along Church Creek, and the Wappoo Cut Boat Landing provides access to the Intracoastal. On the opposite side of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard awaits Parkshore Park. The green space has a baseball diamond, tennis courts and a playground. Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site is a state park and tourist destination. Visitors can walk along the preserved grounds of South Carolina's first colonial settlement for an admission fee.A neighborhood charter and local public school options
Families are zoned for Springfield Elementary, which has a B-plus rating from Niche. The A-rated charter school Orange Grove Elementary accepts kindergarteners to eighth graders. Because the charter is located inside the neighborhood, Sandhurst residents receive priority in the school's lottery system for enrollment. C.E. Williams Middle School for Creative & Scientific Arts has a B. West Ashley High also has a B. The high school offers clubs in philosophy, music and NJROTC.Getting around on Sam Rittenberg and I-26
The neighborhood borders Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, which brings residents to popular Charleston destinations across the river. Traveling across the water takes commuters to Interstate 26, which leads to the historic downtown Charleston in about 7 miles. Drivers can also reach downtown through Old Towne Road. The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority's bus route 32 provides stops along the roadway.Visiting Charleston Sports Pub and Ashley Landing
Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, to the east, has a mix of national storefronts and local establishments. S&S Cafeterias offers a rotating menu of homestyle southern comfort food. Charleston Sports Pub is a popular option on Tuesdays for trivia nights and discounted margaritas. The nearby Ashley Landing shopping mall has a Publix supermarket, clothing stores and the Frothy Beard Brewing Company.
