Beatties Ford-Trinity

A mix of home styles new and old
Beyond major thoroughfares like Beatties Ford Road, the residential streets are wide and flat. Homes sit on large lawns backed by dense clusters of trees and bordered by rows of hedges. Residential development began here around the mid-20th century and has continued steadily onward ever since, from 1960s brick ranch-style homes to ‘90s New Traditional two-story houses. While these established homes can start in the $200,000 range, new constructions are becoming increasingly common in the area. A spacious Craftsman house on a nearly one-acre lot can sell for over $500,000, and brand-new three-bedroom townhouses regularly list for around $325,000. “In this area, If I were to list a house right now, we’d have several offers and be under contract in less than 30 days. The inventory right now is very limited,” reports Hall.Paying homage to the area’s Revolutionary War history
While some of the first homes in Beatties Ford-Trinity were sold in the 1960s, its history actually spans back much earlier. This area’s roots can be traced back to the McIntyre Historic Site, where a Revolutionary War skirmish occurred during the British occupation of Charlotte in 1780. The story goes that nearly 400 Redcoat soldiers foraging at McIntyre’s farm stumbled into a beehive and, amid the chaos, were routed by a group of less than 15 Patriots, earning the encounter the name “the Battle of the Bees.” As the British retreated from Charlotte, they called the city a “hornet’s nest” of rebellion. That strong, defiant spirit has become a point of pride for area residents, so much so that Hornets Nest Elementary and Hornets Nest Park were named after it.A local park houses an obstacle course and BMX tracks
Trinity Road feeds right into Hornets Nest Park, where residents can play a round on the disc golf course or hike along the winding waterside trails. McIntire Creek meanders through Hornets Nests’ wooded terrain and feeds into the lake at the park’s center, a community favorite for fishing. Adrenaline junkies hit the dirt BMX tracks to get their fill of thrill rides, while there’s plenty of family-friendly recreation on the playground and Carolina Panthers Play 60 Challenge Course. Blending NFL-style training and an American Ninja Warrior-esque obstacle course, parkgoers of every age can test their mettle and set a new personal record at tackling creative hurdles and a 40-yard dash. The park’s myriad sporting facilities are supplemented by the nearby Sunset Hills Public Golf Course, where golfers can practice their swing with a quick and affordably priced round on the 40-acre wooded tract.Take Beatties Ford Road all the way into Uptown
Residents have immediate access to Interstate 77, putting them within a 7-mile drive to Uptown Charlotte. Those who’d prefer to bypass the highway traffic can take Beatties Ford Road all the way to where it turns into Trade Street just outside of City Center. Although this is a largely car-dependent area, Charlotte Area Transit buses stop along Beatties Ford and Trinity roads for a car-free ride around town. Additional walkability and transit improvements are also planned for the area, including bike lanes and an expanded Charlotte Streetcar line three miles south at the Rosa Parks Place Community Transit Center. Those who travel for work or for pleasure can reach the Charlotte Douglas International Airport with an 11-mile drive southwest.Shopping destinations are close by
Running errands close to home is a breeze with Food Lion and Aldi situated at the southern end of the neighborhood along Beatties Ford Road. Fast food chains, gas stations and drug stores line this popular corridor, alongside local neighborhood staples such as Sunset Soul Food or Bubba’s Barbecue. For more comprehensive shopping, residents can make the three-mile trip north to Northlake Mall, a popular Charlotte destination. The expansive indoor complex houses name-brand clothiers and jewelers in addition to its anchoring department stores, Belk and Macy’s, and even an AMC theater. Sit-down chain restaurants and big-box stores also surround the mall, ensuring that residents’ retail needs can be met within a five-minute drive.Hopewell High students can get ahead for college

Hornets Nest Elementary has been serving young students for over 30 years and sends them on to attend Ranson Middle, both of which score a C from Niche. Hopewell High, which earns a B-minus, is a Cambridge International school. Through the program, which offers advanced courses on a full range of subjects, students can earn college credit at University of North Carolina schools.Crime
