Hamilton Circle
Suburban Neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina
Mecklenburg County 28216, 28269

Home styles span from the 1950s to today
Midcentury homes stretch out on half-acre lots beneath lofty oaks, while houses in newer subdivisions line up in tidy rows behind neatly trimmed lawns. The diversity of housing stock in Hamilton Circle makes it an eye-catching area for buyers with a tighter budget who still want options. Brick ranch-style homes from the 1950s and ‘60s are typically priced in the lower $200,000 range. Vinyl-siding New Traditional homes built in the 2000s and recently built townhouses with three bedrooms push prices near the $300,000 mark, and spacious new constructions with Craftsman-inspired stylings can list for upwards of $350,000. “It’s an up-and-coming area. There’s some revitalization happening because the surrounding areas are a little more industrial, but it’s also more affordable,” says Jessica Fava, a Realtor with Lantern Realty & Development who recently sold a new home in the neighborhood. “Under $400,000 for a two-story house is amazing for Charlotte. It’s definitely attractive for first-time buyers.”New park amenities for outdoor escapes
The Ribbonwalk Nature Preserve and Nevin Community Park are right next door to the neighborhood, attracting hikers and joggers year-round to the quiet wooded trails. The park’s playground received a refresh in 2022, adding upgraded equipment and a shaded splash pad for kids to cool down on hot days. The bocce ball courts and disc golf course are also a favorite among families. When rainy days make outdoor fun a wash, folks head to the McCrorey YMCA along Beatties Ford Road to keep active.Neighborhood mainstays serve up local flavors
Restaurants and retail flock to Sunset Road in Hamilton Circle’s northern end. Many residents stop for their weekly grocery shopping at the Food Lion and Aldi. For meals out, locals have several homegrown haunts to choose from. Sunflower Family Restaurant is the go-to for breakfast and lunch, serving healthy portions of homestyle Southern staples from its casual outpost. Angie’s Diner, a longstanding neighborhood restaurant and a favorite among locals, serves soul food classics in an old-school diner atmosphere. A handful of chain restaurants cluster near I-77 for meals on the go, and most folks head into Uptown for a night out on the town.West Charlotte High is considered the pride of northwest Charlotte
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools serve public school students in the community. Statesville Road Elementary and Ranson Middle both score a C from Niche, while West Charlotte High earns a C-minus. The high school, affectionately called “DubC” by locals, opened the doors to its brand new state-of-the-art campus in 2022.Interstate access and incoming public transit
Hamilton Circle is bisected by Interstate 77, with immediate access to the Interstate 85 interchange at the south end of the neighborhood. Residents are a 7-mile drive from Uptown Charlotte or roughly 10 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The Charlotte Area Transit System buses have several routes with stops along the main surrounding roads for residents who prefer public transportation, and an extension of the LYNX Gold Line light rail is slated for construction along Beatties Ford Road to give locals a car-free route into Center City.Eye-catching murals line the Beatties Ford Road corridor
Hamilton Circle is bordered in the west by Charlotte’s dynamic Beatties Ford Road corridor, which traces several historic African-American neighborhoods. The busy thoroughfare is a well-traveled path and a direct route into Uptown, Charlotte’s Center City, with 24 vibrant murals lining the way to commemorate the area’s storied history. The mural walk begins at the McCrorey YMCA with the colorful words “know justice” splashed across the side of the building, a collaboration between local artist Georgie Nakima and teens attending the YMCA’s summer programming.
