Insulated amenities and leafy surroundings in Highland Creek
With its striking curb appeal and rich natural environments, Highland Creek offers more than most typical Charlotte suburbs. The neighborhood has insulated amenities, the nearby Concord Mills Mall to browse, and a bevy of parks and places to tee off; the Creek is a well-rounded place to live in the Center City. Robert Valencia, the Highland Creek Community Association President, says that Highland Creek is a unique place to live because of “the amenities, and it has 4-star elementary and middle school, daycare, senior living facilities and a top-ranked Golf Course in Charlotte.”

Clubhouse amenities, activities and camps for kids
Highland Creek fosters a strong sense of community with its central clubhouse, swimming pools, and several parks. The neighborhood is not just a place to live but a place to belong. Children spend their summers participating in the community's diverse camps for almost every sport and activity, fostering friendships and shared experiences. And sports aren't just for kids here, Highland Creek residents enjoy gathering at the club's athletic facilities for pickleball and tennis. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, the Sports Club hosts regularly scheduled Yoga and Zumba group classes, providing opportunities for residents to connect and unwind. All these amenities are covered under Highland Park's Homeowners Association agreement, ensuring a carefree living experience. "The HOA here provides residents with carefree living. Buyers live on the inside, and management takes care of the outside," adds Tracy Olson, a Charlotte local and New Home Counselor at Mattamy Homes. The Highland Creek Community Association's annual fees from 2020 were $648, significantly lower than the average for several HOAs nearby, somewhere around $927, and offering more amenities at the same time.

Razzoo's Cajun Cafe and Eastfield Bar & Grill for neighborhood eats
A popular shopping destination, Concord Mills Mall, is a quick 2-mile trip east along Christenbury Parkway. Residents will spend weekends here shopping and dining at the massive plaza. "You have everything at your fingertips here. Dining options from fast food to fast casual to high-end restaurants are all a stone's throw away," notes Olson, who recommends a stop for American eats in the comfy casual digs of Bad Daddy's Burger Bar. Razzoo's Cajun Café is another local favorite serving New Orleans flavors from its quirky, maritime-inspired interiors. To the southwest are the Shoppes at Highland Creek, with a Harris Teeter for groceries and several fast-food joints. Head a mile up Church Prosperity Road from here to stop at Food Lion, Publix, or Aldi, or get a drink and a bite at Eastfield Bar & Grill, a neighborhood dive with everything from draft beers to burgers and karaoke nights.

Residents can bring furry friends along for a walk along its natural footpaths or round up the kids for a game on one of its eight sprawling soccer fields. Valencia named HOA-sponsored events in town from “Movies at the Park, Holiday events, 5K runs, and a host of other events to accommodate the community.”

It isn't a bad area to live in. It's just that over the years, crime has increased and safety has decreased. But it is a very convenient area because it has a mall thats five minutes away as well as grocery stores, pools, parks, and elementary, middle, and high schools.
