Oakdale is a growing suburb in Northwest Charlotte
Oakdale is a suburb filled with single-family homes close to the major highways and amenities in the northwestern section of the Queen City. The quiet streets feature inventory from the 1960s, but they have seen a slew of new homes as Charlotte has expanded its housing needs. The neighborhood has a direct route to Uptown via Brookshire Road and is conveniently close to a multitude of job centers, including distribution and logistics facilities.
Farm land is also still around in areas of Oakdale.

Newer housing stock with few HOAs
Home architecture in Oakdale includes split levels, New Traditionals, cottage, and ranch styles. Townhomes are also available. Prices typically range between $225,000 and $500,000, although some properties can exceed $700,000.
Properties are typically located on winding streets with smaller-than-average-sized lots, and typically feature mature oak trees that accent the lawns. Newer communities can have even smaller lots and less tree cover. "Nowadays, with new construction, you're not getting this much acreage," notes Realtor Jill Dambrosio with EXP Realty.
“[Oakdale is] definitely affordable and close to Charlotte. It’s mostly single-family, not a big HOA [zone], lot sizes are pretty decent,” says Ann Welchans a Realtor with Progressive Urban Real Estate, who sells in the area. “And from an investment standpoint, if you were to buy there, I think in five years you’re going to have a good investment.”
The community is also generally more affordable than other neighborhoods in the northeast, such as Coulwood Hills says Welchans. Welchans also says that the locale has been experiencing growth in new housing stock due to northwest Charlotte, in general, being one of the last portions of the city to develop and expand its inventory. She adds that it has been appealing to families and first-time homebuyers.

CATS buses stop along Brookshire Boulevard and connect to Uptown Charlotte, roughly 6 miles southeast. Brookshire Boulevard also connects to Interstates 85, 485 and 77. Atrium Health University City is 12 miles away, while Charlotte Douglass International Airport is 7 miles south.
In Oakdale, you can easily access all the interstates in the Charlotte area.
