South East Chelmsford is a rural community with interstate access
South East Chelmsford is a popular rural neighborhood in North Massachusetts that offers an ample amount of recreation. “It’s more country in South Chelmsford, and the homes tend to have more land,” says Pat Dearborn, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty Chelmsford. The neighborhood is right next to Interstate 495 for easy access to Downtown Boston in under an hour. This neighborhood hosts a wide array of modern amenities that complement its otherwise country vibe. South Chelmsford is also an easy commute to Downtown Boston and offers a quiet space away from the bustling city streets.
Near many outdoor areas, from hiking trails to beaches
South East Chelmsford has plenty of opportunities for you to get active outdoors. Visit Great Brook Farm State Park which has several miles of trails through fields and dense forest. The park is centered around a dairy farm that is open for tours. There’s also Heart Pond Beach, a small part of the Heart Pond shore where you can go swimming or sunbathe in the sand. Red Wing Farm Reservation is near Heart Pond Beach and has a few grassy fields and short walking trails. South Chelmsford is also scattered with several paved and unpaved hiking and biking trails through the community’s lush greenery, including the George B. B. Wright Reservation, The Goliath Bike Trail and the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail.
Houses go quick in quiet residential areas
Single-family homes in South East Chelmsford include a mix of ranch and colonial styles from the 1960s with brick and vinyl exteriors. Most of these single-family houses range in cost from $500,000 to $800,000 and come with long driveways, garages and at least an acre of land. If you’re interested in this area, pay close attention because homes here tend to be on the market for five to 10 days. “If it’s priced right and in good condition, it will sell fast here,” says Dearborn. For those looking for a lower price point within this area, a mobile home community offers units that sell for between $70,000 to $110,000.
Shopping at nearby Cornerstone Square and local dining options
Cornerstone Square is a shopping center 15 minutes west of the neighborhood. You can shop for your groceries at Market Basket and Whole Foods Market. The shopping center also has a CVS Pharmacy, Petco and The UPS Store. Cornerstone Square also has several popular local restaurants. Check out Paul’s Diner, operating since 2000, which offers a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options. You can also try Seoul Kitchen, a family-owned restaurant serving Korean dishes like tiger wok shrimp, chicken curry katsu and beef bulgogi. If you’re looking to grow your own produce, you can rent a plot in the community garden, Sunny Meadow Farm, in the south end of the neighborhood.

GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
