Located in Macomb County
Located 30 miles from Detroit in a rural, yet residential area, Chesterfield Township is right on Lake Saint Clair and is becoming a hotspot for homeowners wanting a gorgeous waterfront property with plenty of space. “It’s really growing. It’s a high-demand area because of the location,” says Rhonda Beauchamp, a Real Estate Broker and Co-Owner of The Boardwalk Realtors. “Boaters tend to flock here.”
With over 27 square miles to the neighborhood, Chesterfield Township is spread out into nine different unincorporated communities – all with gridded and planned-out streets. “There’s a nice variety of homes and subdivisions that all act within their own families,” Beauchamp says. Interstate 94 helps connect the neighborhood with itself and other nearby areas, serving as an easy access point. While most residents tend to rely on their own vehicles, there are bus stops all along Gratiot Avenue for traveling to different shopping centers.
Finding a home to fit your needs is easy in Chesterfield Township with its expansive housing market. Ranch-style homes with painted shutters can be found for $250,000 to $350,0000, while bigger Craftsmen with garages, pointed roofs and picture windows are priced around $350,000 to $650,000. If you need a lower cost of living, older manufactured homes cost anywhere from $20,000 to $85,000 and are farther out in the countryside. On the other hand, lakefront properties along the bay are newer, much grander and upwards of a million.
Families living in Chesterfield Township have three school districts where they can send their children. Francis A Higgins Elementary School is within L’Anse Creuse Public Schools and has a B-Plus grade on Niche. Anchor Bay Middle School South is within the Anchor Bay School District. Its above-average test scores, notable STEAM program and 8th-grade trip to Washington DC all contribute to its B Niche grade. From there, your child can attend New Haven High School. With a B-minus Niche grade, New Haven meets its students where they’re at – it offers an after-school support program for students who are struggling, and a career and technical education program for those who want a head start.
When you need to stretch your legs out, Chesterfield Township has a couple of parks you can explore. Bertha M Pollard Park has a stadium-style layout that makes room for nine baseball and soccer fields. Take a swing at the batting cages or walk the perimeter pathway. Bradenburg Park is right on the edge of Anchor Bay and has multiple playgrounds, a basketball court and a seasonal splash pad for kids to cool off on a hot summer day. Use the boat launch to get on the water or sit and watch other vessels float by from the boardwalk. Webber Paddle Park is another great location for those looking to get on the water with its access to the Salt River. Kayaks and canoes can both launch from this site. “The waterways contribute a lot to the entertainment of the area,” Beauchamp says.
Chesterfield Township has several shopping centers within the neighborhood for residents to find their essentials. Chesterfield Corners Shopping Center is located at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Highway 59. It has several hotels, a Walmart and fast-food chains like Culver’s. From there, travel north on Interstate 94 for three miles to get to Waterside Marketplace and Chesterfield Crossing Shopping Center. The large commercial complex has three grocery stores, including Gordon Food Service Store and Meijer, and several big-box department stores like Target and TJ Maxx. Catch a movie at Chesterfield Cinemas 16 or read a book at the public library. Afterward, enjoy a fine dining experience at Louis’ Chop House, with its elegant lounge and live piano music setting the scene for a delicious steak. For something more casual, Sugarbush Tavern is on 21 Mile Road and has traditional bar food that’s great for a weekend night out. Downtown New Baltimore is right on the edge of the neighborhood and gives residents additional restaurant and entertainment options.
When you live in Chesterfield Township, you can have easy access to the Great Lakes plus all the amenities of an up-and-coming suburban area.
