Quiet suburbs near shops and the highway
The Chesterfield neighborhood of Centralia gives residents comfy suburban lots and homes while also placing them near the highway and commercial zones found on Iron Bridge Road and Chester Road. Homebuyers also have a diverse selection of homes to choose from, both in terms of age and architecture. All these factors have made Centralia a desirable neighborhood many residents are choosing to stay in for the long term. “You’ve got a lot of older neighborhoods in this area and people who have lived here a long time,” says Jessica Hall, a Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate with over 15 years of experience. “You also get more for your money here than in other areas – a bigger house on a bigger lot.” Home prices tend to start at $240,000 for a three to four-bedroom dwelling, though larger properties start around $500,000.

Many home styles and sizes to choose from
Wide, curving streets without sidewalks and rows of cul-de-sacs are typical of Centralia. One-quarter to one-third acre lots are shaded by mature, lush trees, with homes following Cape Cod, Colonial Revival, split-level and ranch-style designs, usually dating back to the 1970s and ‘80s. These three- and four-bedroom homes tend to start at $240,000 and taper off after about $375,000. Properties south of Chalkley Road tend be on the larger side, homes often above 3,000 square feet and lots around two-thirds of an acre. Most of these homes were constructed since the ‘90s follow Colonial Revival and New Traditional architectural styles, featuring red brick facades. Prices tend to range between $500,000 and $750,000. But whatever the home, all are flying off the shelves quickly. “If the price is right and the house has been prepared well for the market, it’s going to sell, and it’s going to sell quickly,” Hall says.
