The essentials are within a five-mile radius, Coleman says. State Road 54 is a go-to shopping area where the options are growing. Just across the road is a Publix Plaza with a nail and hair salon, barber shop, dry cleaners, doctor's office, UPS store and several restaurants. The plaza features a new Brass Tap location, serving casual pub fare, beer and cocktails. A new First Watch and Starbucks have also opened up nearby. More options are available in Tampa and Land O' Lakes. "Land O'Lakes used to be a tiny town, but now it's completely grown," Coleman says.

The Long Lake Ranch Spirit Committee brings neighbors together. The community garage sale is an annual highlight, where residents clear out their garages, attics and closets. "Each little section has some community leadership, and that person tends to bring the people together," Coleman says. "I find it to be a very neighborly community."

Long Lake Ranch is located between Land O' Lakes and Tampa. "It's far enough from big-city Tampa but close enough to get there if you want to," Coleman says. Locals mainly get around by car, while Pasco County buses stop along State Road 54. Interstate 275 and State Road 589, a toll road, lead south into the city. Tampa International Airport offers direct flights across the U.S. and abroad. Advent Health provides an emergency room about 4 miles west, and St. Joseph's is a full-service hospital about 5 miles south.
