HR Ranch
Neighborhood in Cheyenne, Wyoming
Laramie County 82007
Ranch-style homes situated on up to 50 acres
HR Ranch is known for its expansive acreage and privacy. When folks drive around the area, they’ll see farm animals and lots of open land. "When I'm out there, I'm completely unplugged and there's no light pollution," Graham says. "There's all kinds of wildlife, deer, antelope; I've had a mountain lion in my yard." Properties were built after the 1990s and often have two-car garages, long driveways and sheds. Most homes are craftsman and contemporary ranches with more than three bedrooms, spanning 2,000 square feet. "The smallest [lot] is around 2.5 acres and the largest is 50 acres. The people with the larger acreage can have livestock, like horses," Graham says. "My property is six acres -- I can't have livestock." Prices can range from $600,000 for less than three acres to $1,200,000 for properties with more land. The neighborhood is prone to wildfires.Limited parks, but plenty of land for backyard hunting
While the neighborhood doesn't have any designated parks, it does have plenty of hiking trails. "There's one trail that goes through the whole subdivision,” Graham says. "Most of it is dirt roads, but parts of it are paved." Residents take advantage of their acreage and wildlife by hunting in their backyards. "I've sat on my dining room table and watched people hunt for deer and geese outside my back door," Graham adds. "There's something cool about seeing someone go out there and kill their dinner." Dirt bikers can take a spin on the tracks at the Laramie County Motorcross Park, 3 miles northwest. For target practice, the Laramie County Shooting Sports Complex is nearby.10-mile drive to assigned schools
Students can start school at Arp Elementary. The school, rated C-minus by Niche, teaches kids in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Johnson Junior High teaches seventh and eighth-grade students; the C-rated school offers career education in things like agriculture, family and consumer sciences and business. Students can earn their high school diplomas from South High School, which earns a C-plus from Niche. All schools are at least 10 miles away.Close to the Laramie County Fairgrounds
HR Ranch is near the Archer Complex, which hosts large events like the Laramie County Fair. The fair takes place over the course of ten days at the beginning of August, and fairgoers can play mini-golf, visit animals at petting zoos and play games throughout the day. Come nighttime, headlining shows include pig wrestling, demolition derbies and rodeos. Several expo shows and holiday events take place at the complex throughout the year.Take Interstate 80 to reach Cheyenne
Since HR Ranch is on the city’s eastern outskirts, driving is the only way to get around. "It's 12 miles from town. It takes me 15 minutes to get to my downtown office from my house," Graham says. Residents can drive to Interstate 80 and reach downtown Cheyenne or head west towards Laramie. Cheyenne Regional Airport is 15 miles away. The small airport has two daily flights to Denver.6 miles to Dell Range Boulevard shopping and dining
Residents have to travel at least 2 miles to reach restaurants and retail. T-Joe's Steakhouse and Saloon is the closest and most popular restaurant with neighborhood residents; it has a Western and cowboy ambiance with paintings of horses, wanted posters and wooden décor. The menu has comfort foods like burgers and cheese fries. Downtown Cheyenne, about 8 miles away, has restaurants like R&B Breakfast Club, an American brunch spot decorated with Elvis memorabilia. Its most popular dishes include burgers and its legendary breakfast burrito. Dell Range Boulevard, known as the state's busiest road, is 6 miles north, lined with chain restaurants and shopping destinations. King Soopers is nearby for groceries, and people can shop at chain stores at the Frontier Mall and Frontier Square Plaza, including JCPenney, Target and T.J. Maxx.
