Western Hills
Homes surrounded by mature landscaping and winding roads
The suburb has paved sidewalks lined every street, and every home is decorated with some green. “It’s a lot of mature landscaping. The trees are well-developed and protective from the wind,” Prescott says. “The roadways have some winding to them, and it gives the neighborhood extra character compared to a structured grid.” Residents often greet each other while taking walks and riding their bikes. Most homes feature a garage, front lawns, and exteriors different from their neighbors. Styles vary around this neighborhood, from midcentury moderns to bi-levels and contemporary two-story homes. Buyers can find homes built from the 1950s to newer properties from the 2020s. Prices range from $370,000 for an older ranch home and $778,000 for a larger home with five bedrooms. Homes can also be priced closer to $1 million. Western Hills receives a CAP crime score of 1, the lowest rating, and three below the national score of 4.Home to Cheyenne Greenway starting point
Western Hills Park sits on the neighborhood’s northern end. This park is always full of people utilizing the open field for football and soccer practice. Kids can also enjoy the playground area. Hikers and bikers can complete 45 miles of trails on the Cheyenne Greenway. “Western Hills is where the Cheyenne Greenway starts. So, you see a lot of people walking the neighborhood,” Prescott says. Lions Park gets foot traffic for its loads of amenities. Kids can hang out in the multiple playgrounds, explore the Paul Smith Children’s Village in the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, or swim in the pools at the Cheyenne Aquatic Center. Curt Gowdy State Park is 26 miles west. It’s an all-year recreation spot. During the summer, visitors like to mountain bike or fish, while during the winter, folks participate in cross-country skiing and sledding. Golfers can get their swings in at Airport Golf Club and Cheyenne Country Club.
