There are plenty of loft-style and penthouse condos ranging from steel to brick, with many buildings offering amenities to make it feel more like a community. Homes in this area have prices as vast as the city around it, with one and two-bedroom condos starting around $250,000 and going up to $1 million for a three- and four-bedroom penthouse condo or stately brick townhouse. One Museum Park is an iconic example of luxury residential high rises in Central Station. Built in 2008, it expresses a contemporary style of pristine glass and steel that rises 62 stories. Residents here have access to a community room overlooking Grant Park, a fitness center, a movie theater, a dog run and a dog spa.Walking and relaxing in downtown Chicago
Central Station offers plenty of parks in the city’s center for locals, such as Mark Twain Park, a modest 2.5-acre space ideal for enjoying a stroll around the perimeter path or letting the kids run wild on the playground. While it is only a little over 1 acre, Webster Park is a big meeting ground for residents with an open grassy stretch with shade trees for playing fetch with your dog or a game of toss with friends. It offers excellent views of the surrounding high rises and historic walk-up homes. The neighborhood is also right next to the Museum Campus and Grant Park, two city highlights on Lake Michigan.Chicago Public Schools
Central Station students are taught by Chicago Public Schools, with many starting at Loop Elementary School from prekindergarten through eighth grade, which receives a B-plus rating on Niche. Pekarsky says it is “one of the best elementary schools in the city.” The C-minus rated Wendell Phillips Academy High School is the students' next and final stop. It is famous for being the oldest African American high school in the city of Chicago and offers 15 unique clubs to students, ranging from the knitting club to the School Beautification Club. The Chicago Marathon and nearby attractions
Many of downtown’s most significant events happen near Central Station, such as the annual Chicago Marathon in October every year, which surpassed 1 million finishers in 2023 and is quickly making Chicago a city of marathoners. For additional fun, the neighborhood is less than a mile from Soldier Field, which is ideal for locals looking to catch a Bears game. For fun that is not sports-related, the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium mean a day of excitement is never far away.Chicago’s Metra and buses
South Michigan Avenue and East Roosevelt Road are the main thoroughfares for the neighborhood, offering access to the rest of the area and South Lakeshore Drive, one of the major roads of Chicago. The area is very walkable, with plenty of sidewalks and routes for bikes and scooters. For public transportation, the Roosevelt Metra station nearby allows access to the Red, Orange and Green lines. Bus fans can also rejoice, as several stops are along South Indiana Avenue. For east and west coast trips, Chicago Midway International Airport is 10 miles to the southwest of the neighborhood.Roosevelt Collection Shops
Roosevelt Road is the northern cap of Central Station, where residents can find a bustling retail corridor. One such hotspot is the Roosevelt Collection Shops, an open-air mall just west of the neighborhood that features famous companies such as Banana Republic and retail giants like Target. The mall also offers Pacino’s, a chic Italian restaurant with classic dishes like a Margherita pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil. There is also the ShowPlace ICON Theatre, where locals can easily watch blockbuster hits. Locals can also find nooks in the neighborhood like the Little Branch Café, a bright, casual space where the conversation keeps going with a pleasant cup of coffee or tea. Restocking the kitchen is also a snap with household names including South Loop Market and Jewel-Osco within walking distance from residences. The hustle and bustle of downtown
All the excitement of downtown leads to the clustered traffic and booming noise that can be expected in one of the country’s largest and most popular cities.
