Greystones steal the show along with condos and Queen Anne-style townhouses
While condominiums and luxury apartment complexes are common in Lakeview, single-family homes are abundant along the neighborhood's tree-lined streets. Chicago's famous brown and greystones — some more than a century old — steal the show while townhouses with Queen Anne elements are also plentiful. "Lakeview's got a very diverse housing stock. There's a lot of rentals, there's a lot of million-dollar condos and there's a lot of high-end single-family homes," Goldberg says. "In Lakeview East, you're kind of close to the water and you get those high-rise condos. And then as you go west, it gets really 'neighborhoody,' but it's very, very desirable." Smaller, older homes often price between $600,000 and $900,000, while larger properties with five or more bedrooms and updated appliances can range between $1 million and $2 million. Lakeview's housing market is competitive with many homes selling within two to four weeks.

Lakeview students are served by City of Chicago School District 299. Children from prekindergarten through Grade 8 may attend Blaine Elementary School, which earns an overall grade of A-minus from Niche, before moving on to Lake View High School on North Ashland Avenue. Earning a B-minus Niche grade, the high school offers a host of extracurricular clubs and organizations including the National Honor Society and the Art for Social Justice Club. The A-rated Hawthorne Scholastic Academy — a literacy magnet school serving kindergarten through Grade 8 — is another option on North Clifton Avenue.

Most high rise buildings have some type of fitness center. But if not or you don't like the facility there are literally dozens of yoga studios, health clubs you name it in a one mile radius. And across the street from the building is the park with tennis courts, a golf course, biking and running path, volleyball and basketball courts. Then there is Lake Michigan, brrr.

Lake view is an amazing place to live. It has such a vibrant community. For one the pride parade and marathon come right through the neighborhood. Theres also amazing restaurants everywhere. I love that's is walking distance to both north beach and Lincoln park zoo.
