Long-established town in Onondaga County
Cicero is a historic town in the northeastern corner of Onondaga County, tucked against New York's largest lake entirely in the state, Oneida Lake. Cicero was initially a late 18th-century military tract reserved for soldiers of the Revolutionary War. However, the town didn't start to prosper until a trolley line was constructed in 1909, bringing tourism to the area. Buyers eventually flocked to Cicero, and subdivisions began to develop toward the tail-end of the 20th century. Nowadays, Cicero is a residential stronghold with waterfront homes, well-regarded schooling and lakeside recreation.

Established subdivisions and lakefront homes
Cicero features several subdivisions with homes from the 1980s and '90s. Communities like Laurelwood have split levels and colonials with about 1,500 square feet, at least three bedrooms and attached garages. A few developments, like the Gulfstream subdivision, have early 21st-century colonials with 2,500 square feet of wiggle room. There are a few houses outside a traditional subdivision. Along Mud Mill Road are single-family homes from the mid-20th century on an acre or two of land. And several houses border Oneida Lake, offering water views with docks in their backyards. Housing prices consistently fall between $150,000 and $400,000. Maples, oaks and additional trees scatter Cicero's landscape, splashing the community with bright green during the spring and summer. While streets feature low-speed limits, the community lacks sidewalks, so walking isn't common.
