Madisonville

A diverse architectural scene: Stick-style, Craftsman and new builds
Those walking along Madisonville's sloping sidewalk-lined streets see everything from the ornamental facades and hipped roofs of late 19th-century Stick-style residences to the contemporary forms of new developments. Early 20th-century bungalow-style Craftsman builds with front porches and midcentury single-story dwellings with attached basement garages add to this architecturally diverse community. These homes typically range from $150,000 for a smaller, single-story dwelling to $660,000 for a new construction. Depending on the property's location, some homes sit on hills and lend themselves to steep staircases and terraced brick yard features that hug grassy lawns. These yards extend toward tree-lined streets that many people park on. While much of Madisonville is filled with non-HOA single-family dwellings, the community is also home to a number of apartment complexes. The Cheesecakery, Mom' n 'em Coffee and more
Madisonville's culinary scene ranges from The Cheesecakery, a cafe known for having the most cheesecake flavors in the region, to Element Eatery, a food court home to Taco Oso, among other establishments. Perez recommends Mom 'n 'em Coffee. Here, locals can kick back and relax with a glass of wine or try seasonal drinks. Those craving Mexican flavors head to Mazunte Taqueria, which pairs tacos with tasty margaritas that make for a perfect dinner out with friends. Another option for a night out is Bad Tom Smith Brewing. This establishment's old-timey vibe meshes well with pizza and ice-cold drinks. Shopping enthusiasts will enjoy that the neighborhood is home to stores like Amani Beauty and French Rendez-vous. The latter is operated out of a quaint yellow house, and it offers several authentic goods, including ceramic cicada magnets and French tablecloths. For other shopping needs, Madisonville is conveniently just a short drive from Oakley Station, where residents will find a Kroger and a number of chain eateries.Murray Path, Bramble Park and other recreational offerings
"It's a very active community," Perez says. She mentions the Murray Path, which has become "well-traveled" by bikers and walkers following its recent renovation. Perez adds that "it will eventually be connected to the Wasson Way Trail" that passes through multiple Cincinnati neighborhoods. But people here don't have to head outside their community to spend time outside. Locals practice their shots at Bramble Park's vibrantly painted basketball court, while the Madisonville Recreation Center's tennis courts make for a great workout. During the warmer months, the Madisonville Pool fills with community members ready to jump in the water to escape the summer heat. For other activities, locals can purchase a Hyde Park Golf and Country Club membership or head to the nearby Ault Park — known for its weeping cherry blossoms.Cincinnati Public Schools
Children can enroll in Cincinnati Public Schools like John P. Parker School, which receives a C-plus rating on Niche. It offers educational instruction for pre-kindergarteners through sixth graders and boasts a magnet program that helps get children ready for further education. Children can then go to any of the district's high schools, which serve seventh graders and beyond. Madisonville is home to C-minus-rated Shroder High School, which is known for its Pharmacy Technician Program. A nearby option is A-plus-rated Walnut Hills High School. It's ranked in the top 5% of the nation's public middle and high schools. Class offerings include required Latin learning and 30 AP courses to pick from.Tuesdays at the Park and other events
Bramble Park is the community's hot spot for events. It's home to Tuesdays at the Park. Those attending these June and July gatherings see kids jumping on bouncy houses and feasting on sweet treats. Food truck offerings and live music help get locals in the celebrating spirit. In the past, Mad Lama Coffee Shop hosted a Brick Garden's Farmer's Market on Wednesdays from mid-July through early September, giving locals a place to talk about their gardening suggestions and peruse produce. Creatives can check out Artsville's many offerings. The non-profit has partnered with organizations like the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, so locals won't need to go too far away to see performances.Important to Know
