Prominent Cincinnati neighborhood with historic character and new energy
As Cincinnati ’s largest neighborhood, Westwood makes room for historic properties, a trendy dining scene and the Queen City’s largest park. The community's beating heart exists around landmarks like the Westwood Town Hall, Westwood United Methodist Church and Westwood First Presbyterian Church. Here, these two houses of worship stand out with their stone craftsmanship and blend of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. During the week, many pass by these buildings on their daily errands. Westwood’s charm carries over to its housing, too. “There are lots of Tudors, saltboxes, very nice homes. Some of them have fallen into disarray, but people have come back and brought them back to life. It’s just real quality-built homes with really beautiful woodwork and architecture. It has a lot to offer,” says Nick Guetle , the owner of Cincinnati Boardwalk Realtors, who has made over 30 sales in Westwood. “Westwood also has its own little town area that’s really trying to make a comeback with restaurants and entertainment.”

Other notable attractions here include the Diehl-Unnewehr House, an 1830s-style home with arched masonry ceilings and a wine cellar. The Westwood Farmers Market, established in 2024, runs from to May to October and occurs Thursday at the Westwood United Methodist Church. “It’s been a great addition, I love it. It’s a nice feeling.” An important community event here is the Harvest Home Fair in nearby Cheviot . My experience in West wood has been good. I will always remember where I came from years from now and the people who helped my become who I am. In the small community I live in I like the peaceful neighbors that I have and the togetherness of the people I live with. What I would like to see changed in West wood as a a whole is a safer environment. The housing and buildings are out of date and unkempt. I think this community needs change in great ways. Once we change West wood I think kids will be given a better opportunity to thrive in this world.

Crime is increasing in parts of the neighborhood but not directly where I live. it is all around me and I can turn on the news and hear of a homicide almost nightly. But my small area has been cleared of the violence so far.

I like that the neighborhood I live in is fairly clean and close to a lot of things to do. That being said, the construction on the roads is terrible and so are the condition of the roads. I moved here August of last year and the construction seems to be no closer to be completed as it was a year ago. Another problem I have encountered is that car alarms are going off constantly and it isn't due to people breaking in. It's simply the owners getting into their cars. It's almost as if they didn't realize that they are living in close proximity to people who are trying to sleep at 11:00 at night.
