Living in a little city

This “Little City,” founded in 1920, has an abundance of local grills, eclectic stores, and beloved annual events that bring this town’s residents together. Andrew McManamon, a Sotheby’s Realtor with extensive experience selling Metro Detroit homes, says, “The first aspect that drew me into the city is its small-town feel. Many of these suburbs can be a little overwhelming with all the U-turns, bridges, and offramps, but, when you pass through Clawson, it’s a breath of fresh air. The sense of community and neighborly atmosphere is really felt when you’re walking down its sidewalks.” Locals live along close-knit side streets lined with housing styles expressing Clawson’s century-long history. Kit houses were popular in this city in the 20th century, and one can still find some of these catalog homes throughout the neighborhood. Clawson’s residential areas are embellished with older homes primarily built in the 1940s-60s. Walking through, one will find varying architectural styles from spacious split-levels, colonials, bungalows and ranch houses. Homes vary in price from $120,000 to $670,000, reflecting this city’s many housing options.
