Legends is a Clermont golf community with suburban conveniences

Legends is a gated golf community where homes sit alongside rolling greens and fairways, just a short distance from the shores of Lake Louisa and Lake Minnehaha. It’s situated along the southern edge of Clermont, just 5 miles from the city’s downtown area and 25 miles from Orlando. “It’s an exclusive golf course neighborhood,” says broker Matt Wheatley of Wheatley Realty Group, who has lived in Clermont since 1999. “It’s in a great location with lake views.” Residents live in a suburban setting that’s close to outdoor recreation, local shopping and well-rated public schools. Nearby highways and major roads have made it a popular spot for commuters.

Contemporary-style homes built in the early 2000s

Streets in Legends are lined with contemporary-style homes mostly built in the early 2000s. They typically offer ample living space, with an average size of approximately 3,000 square feet. The streetscape is lush and green, usually with manicured lawns and mature trees. It has sidewalks and very little through traffic, making it easier to walk and bike around the neighborhood. “There are subneighborhoods within the larger planned community, and some have small homes, while others have high-end and luxury homes. There’s a good variety here,” Wheatley says. Prices range from approximately $420,000 to $800,000, and more than 80% of the neighborhood consists of homeowners, rather than renters. Safety is also a factor for homebuyers — the neighborhood has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, compared to a national average of 4.

Golf, lakes and trails offer outdoor recreation close to home

Legends Golf & Country Club is at the heart of the neighborhood. This private club features 18 holes, many of which are set across low hills with views of the surrounding greenery. It also has a luxurious clubhouse with a restaurant and a pro shop. Waterfront recreation is close by at Lake Louisa and Lake Minnehaha. Lake Louisa State Park, located about 4 miles south, offers thousands of acres of open space with trails, camping, swimming, hiking and fishing opportunities. “The lakes are really popular. The number one sport here is wake surfing, but there’s also a lot of fishing, boating and tubing,” Wheatley says. For indoor activities and exercise, residents are within walking distance of the Clermont Arts & Recreation Center, located less than a mile away. The center offers a gym, a pool and several theaters that host local events, concerts and meetings.

Grocery stores and restaurants are within a mile of Legends

For shopping and dining, it’s less than a mile to the Kings Ridge shopping center. Residents can sit down for dinner at San Jose’s Original Mexican Restaurant, while those in the mood for Japanese cuisine can head to Akina. A Publix grocery store anchors the plaza. There are also an Aldi and a Walmart within 3 miles of the neighborhood. Downtown Clermont is about 5 miles away and features a wealth of local businesses, boutiques, breweries and restaurants in a walkable setting. “Downtown has more of a small-town vibe, but there are also lots of chains in Claremont,” Wheatley says.

Public schools earn B ratings and have strong graduation rates

Students start at Lost Lake Elementary School, which earns a B-plus rating from Niche. The next step is B-rated Windy Hill Middle School, followed by B-plus-rated East Ridge High School. Built in 2002, East Ridge High is the largest and second-newest high school in Lake County. The high school boasts a 97% graduation rate, surpassing the statewide average, and nearly 60% of its students proceed to a two- or four-year college or university.

Limited public transit means driving is the main option

Public transportation in the area is limited, so residents will need a vehicle to get around. Legends is bordered by U.S. Route 27, a major north-south route that connects with several other major highways. Orlando Health South Lake Hospital is about 4 miles north, and Orlando International Airport is about 33 miles east of Clermont.
