Montclair Heights
Traditional homes on large lots
Homes in Montclair Heights tend to be larger than in the surrounding areas, with spacious yards and driveways. Most are traditional styles, including colonial revival and split level. Elements of Queen Anne and Tudor style can be found in many of the homes as well, lending a regal air to the neighborhood. “The homes in Montclair Heights are typically mid-level to luxury,” says Louis Wnek Jr., real estate agent with Weichert Realty and longtime resident of the area. “And it has an upscale sort of sense to it.” Prices for a single-family home typically range from $500,000 to $1.3 million.Shopping and dining in Montclair Heights
Residents looking to refuel can do so at the Burger Station, which offers hamburgers on colorful buns and classic milkshakes. The Barrow House is a popular choice for sit-down meals with family or friends, with its colonial era-inspired décor and farm location providing a rustic experience. “The Barrow House is one of the highlights of the community,” says Wnek. “It’s just a very unique setting that attracts people from all over.” The closest grocery store is Stop & Shop. The Promenade Shops at Clifton offers nationally recognized retailers and designer brands.
Extracurriculars at Clifton High
Children may attend Clifton School No. 16, which earns a Niche grade of B-plus. From there, students can attend B-minus rated Woodrow Wilson Middle and finish at B-rated Clifton High. Students at Woodrow Wilson can participate in intramural sports like badminton or join the music club. Clifton High offers an array of club options, including drama, mock trail, art, choir and band.
Pickleball at Holster Park
Locals looking to appreciate the outdoors can do so at Morris Canal Park, where they can walk among the lush trees. The park also provides picnic areas with grills, making it a great choice for family gatherings. Holster Park offers plenty of play space, featuring a playground and ballfields. The park also includes pickleball courts.Commuting to NYC
With its proximity to New York City, the area is a popular choice for commuters looking to get a bit farther away from the bustling streets. “Accessibility is the name of the game in Clifton,” says Wnek Jr. “It’s definitely suburban – but the access it provides to the city is ideal.” Residents in Montclair Heights can easily reach major highways to get into New York City, or away from it, when the need arises.
