Rural charm in the heart of Aggieland
Though the Foxfire community was officially annexed into College Station in 1992, it has been an established part of Aggieland since it was established in 1976. The rural community attracts Aggies looking for spacious traditional homes in a quiet, country setting. "Foxfire is a unique neighborhood because it has acreage lots or larger in the middle of College Station, which is a rare find," says Rhonda Fry, a longtime Realtor with Century 21 Integra. "You get rural living but you're still in the city." Foxfire's sense of community is strong, as the neighborhood's homeowner association brings residents together with holiday parties and community workdays.
Acreage lots and spacious traditional homes
Many homes throughout Foxfire sit on acre lots, some stretching over multiple acres. Very few of the 160 lots are undeveloped, and house prices vary greatly depending on lot size and remodeling. “It’s really eclectic,” says Sarah Miller, a Realtor with Engel and Volkers who has sold homes throughout Aggieland for 17 years. “So you’ll see an A-frame from the ’70s next to a traditional brick home.” Traditional homes can range between $400,000 and $800,000, while new construction recently sold between $1.2 million and $1.7 million. Potential residents can buy a one-acre lot for $190,000. The neighborhood is mostly owner-occupied, and there aren't many rental properties. With annual dues of $25 annually, an active HOA helps plan community events and clean-ups.
Fourth of July kicks off with a bike and trike parade
The neighborhood's annual 4th of July celebration includes a bike and trike parade for Foxfire's youngest, plus locals bringing out their antique cars and sometimes even an appearance from the College Station fire department. The community's National Night Out takes place later in the year, when residents are encouraged to bring their best dish and an appetite.
Foxfire's kids head to Southwood Valley Elementary
Foxfire kids head to Southwood Valley Elementary School, which received an A grade from Niche as part of the College Station Independent School District. Oakwood Intermediate School also received an A and has a student-teacher ratio of 14-to-1, according to Niche. Seventh and eighth graders head to A-rated A&M Consolidated Middle School, followed by A-plus-rated A&M Consolidated High School, which had 156 honor graduates in the 2023-24 school year and a 78% AP Test pass rate.
State Highway 6 and traveling around College Station
Foxfire leads into Texas 6 Frontage Road, a main thoroughfare lined with shopping centers and restaurants. Frontage Road gives way to Texas Avenue, which locals use to travel around Bryan and College Station. The community is 6 miles from Texas A&M University, and most of Bryan isn't too far away. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, a mile from Firefox, is a 142-bed hospital recently listed as one of the best hospitals according to U.S. News and World Report. State Highway 6 is one of the main highways in and out of the College Station area, leading straight to Houston, about 90 miles away.
Live music and Italian fare at Luigi's
Though the community is in a rural landscape, it is still close to many of College Station's best restaurants and retail options. Stella is a popular breakfast spot, serving southern comfort foods and shareable beignets for a post-meal treat. The Rock Prairie Crossing shopping center has an array of chain restaurant options, retail shopping and a Kroger. Luigi's has live music on most nights to pair with Italian food and drinks. Foxfire is 4 miles from the Tower Point shopping center, an emerging retail center in southern College Station.
Nature trail at Woodcreek Park
Less than a mile from the neighborhood, Woodcreek Park offers a quiet spot for families to take the kids for an afternoon outing, plus a picnic area and a small loop trail set in a forested landscape.
