Businesses work together 30 minutes from Tulsa
Collinsville, 30 minutes from Tulsa, provides a quiet and rural atmosphere while maintaining proximity to city amenities. Highway 20 cuts through the center of Collinsville, bringing many restaurants and entertainment options to the area. Collinsville is a small town where people and businesses work together. “Being a small town, most business owners know each other,” says Christy Stephens, the Silver Dollar Café & Gift Shop manager. “If they need anything, they’ll just ask, and of course, you let them. You don’t count them as competition; you count them as friends. You help build each other up.” The area has limited casual shopping options, but that’s about to change. Set to open in 2024, the Shoppes at Cooper Ranch will span two 15,000-square-foot complexes with mostly locally owned stores alongside a few national retailers.
Hwy 20 turns into Main street through the Collinsville neighborhood.
Silver Dollar Café & Gift Shop
Residents stop by the Silver Dollar Café & Gift Shop for a hearty meal and light shopping. In 2017, the front of the café collapsed after someone drove their car into it. Fortunately, the locally owned favorite bounced back quickly, churning out a little of everything, from chicken fried steak sandwiches and pizzas to hearty dinners like the mushroom chicken with Swiss. Just a few buildings east, El Jalapeño Grill specializes in authentic Mexican grill and offers burritos, tortas and chimichangas, along with burgers, pastas and salads. Next to Collinsville High School, residents visit Scoops & Grinds, which doubles as a coffee shop and confection parlor. The parlor cafe uses locally roasted beans in its coffee and hand-makes its ice creams and pastries. Residents can visit JB’s Market or the Walmart Supercenter in Owasso for groceries and other necessities.

Turtle races in City Park
City Park is the main park in the area. After the Fourth of July parade down Main Street, residents gather in the park to watch the fireworks. Here, locals take part in watermelon spitting contests, pie-eating contests and turtle racing. “That time of year is when the turtles cross the road. Kids will grab some turtles, and race them,” says Stephens. “Afterward, they’ll put them back.” When the park is not used for the town’s festivities, residents may enjoy the walking paths, sports fields, splash pad and play structures.
