It's also home to a disc golf course that spans 18 holes, some of which are surrounded by densely wooded areas of juniper and pine trees. Just 3 miles away, Big Mama's Cafe serves up everything from pancakes to make-your-own omelets. In 2023, the restaurant won the 'Best of Columbia' breakfast award. However, with a limited number of restaurants and shops on the northeast side of Columbia, Rice says many residents drive south to dine out. He recommends CC's City Broiler, the 2021 and 2022 winner of 'Best of Columbia' chef, wait staff and steak awards. "It has one of the greatest steaks I've ever had," Rice says. For groceries, the chain Shnucks is just about 2 miles away.A 5-mile drive to The District, University of Missouri and more

This same road connects the community to major employers like the University of Missouri, MU Health Care and Boone Hospital Center, also about 5 miles away. The community's location is also convenient for those in the hospitality and industrial sectors, as there are hotels and manufacturing employers a few miles to the west, along Interstate 70. Just 3 miles west, U.S. Route 63 offers connections to the Columbia Regional Airport, 14 miles south, and to the state capital Jefferson City, 32 miles south.
