A suburban neighborhood just 5 miles north of downtown Columbia
The Hominy Branch community gets its name from the creek that winds along the neighborhood's southern border. Known for its relaxed Midwestern essence, this neighborhood features spacious, wooded backyards, sidewalks and the multiuse Hominy Creek Trail. Many homes here were built in the early 2000s, and compared to the newer communities on the south side of the city, sell at lower prices and don't have added HOA fees. "The northeast area of Columbia is more affordable than the south side. It also feels a little bit more rural," says local Realtor Dalton Rice with House of Brokers Realty. "There aren't as many shops or restaurants, but we're starting to experience that growth. The area has recently gotten a new Shnucks location." With growth on the horizon and a number of nearby amenities, the Hominy Branch neighborhood offers laid-back Missouri living on the brink of change.
