Park DeVille
Neighborhood in Columbia, Missouri
Boone County 65203
Multifamily and single-family options
Most of Park DeVille’s housing options are apartments or condos. The Park DeVille Place condos were built in the 1980s and 1990s and range from $150,000 to nearly $200,000, with added monthly HOA fees. “The condos are very popular,” says local Realtor Nancy Holliday with RE/MAX. “In the last few years, they’ve gone up in price unbelievably — [some] from $100,000 to $180,000,” Still, “they’re much cheaper than other condos in Columbia,” Holliday adds. Single-family housing options also date back to the late 20th century and many sit on over a quarter of an acre, reflecting ranch-style and bi-level designs. There are also several unique builds here, some with storybook-like stone inlay and others with unconventional asymmetrical designs. Homes in Park DeVille typically cost between $300,000 and $400,000, depending on their size, location and condition.Smithton Park, L. A. Nickell Golf Course and more
Park DeVille is home to Smithton Park, a small neighborhood green space with a playground and picnic tables. For other options, Leeper recommends the nearly 550-acre Cosmo Park. It features a number of sports amenities, including soccer, football and baseball fields, making it a go to spot for youth sports leagues, according to Leeper. Besides boasting the city’s largest playground, Cosmo Park also features the L. A. Nickell Golf Course, which hosts the Tuesday Night Scramble. “A lot of people confuse it with a league, but it’s just a two-person scramble,” says Dan Frost, the course’s recreation supervisor. “People sign up the Monday night before and it fills up fast.” The 9-hole scramble lasts a total of 16 weeks, split between L. A. Nickell and Lake of the Woods golf courses.Columbia Public Schools: Paxton Keely Elementary and more
Children here can enroll in Columbia Public Schools, the city’s largest school district. Many students are within walking distance of Paxton Keely Elementary and Smithton Middle, both of which receive B-plus ratings from Niche. The elementary school takes its name from the University of Missouri’s first female journalism graduate and the school’s song was even modeled after the Missouri Tigers’ fight song. At the middle school level, students can participate in extracurriculars like the science olympiad and art club. From there, most students head to A-minus-rated David H. Hickman High to finish their secondary education, which offers language courses in French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Latin. Hickman High also features family and consumer science electives.Drives to The District and Jefferson City
While most residents drive to get around, they can also take advantage of Go COMO’s nearby bus stops. The Red Route offers 20-minute commutes to downtown Columbia, known as The District. The city center is about a 4-mile drive east via West Broadway. To the east are also major employers, including Missouri University and MU Health Care, which are about 5 miles away via East Stadium Boulevard. For other commutes, Missouri’s capital, Jefferson City, is about 35 miles south via U.S. Route 63; Kansas City is around 125 miles west via Interstate 70; and St. Louis is about 125 miles east via Interstates 70 and 64. For longer trips, the Columbia Regional Airport is just under 20 miles south via Route 63.The Pasta Factory, Shakespeare's Pizza and other options
The community is also home to the Fairview Marketplace, which features The Pasta Factory. In 2020, COMO Magazine called the eatery “a Columbia tradition” because of its nearly 50-year history serving authentic Italian fare. Shakespeare’s Pizza is another long-running Columbia restaurant. where the eatery serves up make-your-own pizzas along with daily happy hour specials. For Chinese cuisine, House of Chow features everything from spring rolls to Peking duck, all set to the backdrop of a red accent wall, bamboo decorations and mood lighting. For groceries, there are easily accessible Hy-Vee and Walmart locations nearby; or for produce, the year-round Columbia Farmers Market is under 2 miles to the east. Also, just east of the community, is the Columbia Mall, which offers nearly 100 boutique shops and stores.
