A Columbia neighborhood with just over 100 homes
Despite being just a few miles from the city center, Westwinds Park is known for its suburban characteristics. Spacious lawns, towering oaks and a namesake neighborhood park offer the perfect backdrop for a calm residential lifestyle. This atmosphere, coupled with competitively rated schools and a convenient location near the University of Missouri (Mizzou), are some of the aspects that appeal to longtime Columbia resident Judy Massey, who lives nearby. Massey points to the community's tranquility as another deciding factor for prospective residents. "It's a quiet area. There's not a lot of traffic or noise," Massey says. "People walk around a lot. We don't have sidewalks, but you're pretty safe walking in the streets." The community's culture is another appeal. "There's still a strong neighborhood flavor here, where you know your neighbors," Massey adds.

Depending on size and condition, properties go for anywhere between $175,000 and upwards of $250,000 and they sell after an average of 17 days—which is more than two times faster than the national average of 44 days.

Westwinds Park and nearby green spaces
At the community's namesake park, basketball players practice their aim on the half-court while children enjoy the playground. Just south, A. L. Gustin Golf Course offers 18 holes and rolling greens. Despite being Mizzou's course, it is open to the public and even hosts the Gateway PGA Mid-Missouri Championship. Bikers and joggers can head on the MKT Trail, which stretches nearly 9 miles. The Stadium Boulevard access point is less than a mile away, which is significant since "a lot of people in Columbia want access to a trailhead," says local Realtor Shawna Neuner with Boulevard Realty. For hikers, the Rock Bridge Memorial State Park features trails that meander through oak and sycamore trees, offering views of sinkholes and caves.
