Resting just beyond downtown Columbia's immediate orbit, the community of Far North Columbia is home to an "Old school way of life," says Robert Murphy, longtime resident and co-owner of local business, Trigger Tyme Paintball. By old school, he means "It's the kind of place where, if you break down on the side of the road, someone will help you," Murphy adds, stating that "People are always respectful to their neighbors here." The pace of life is a bit different in Far North Columbia. Despite being densely populated and experiencing rapid growth, this suburb remains relatively peaceful. Tucked away in the woods, just off Interstate 20, Far North Columbia offers prospective buyers several subdivisions as well as individual private properties spread throughout its forested, rural areas. With "enough land to have a few animals and streets that are quiet so kids can play outside," Far North Columbia is home to a more laid-back lifestyle.
Low price points and large lots in Richland County
The majority of homes here were built after 1970, though a few feature more recent construction. With an average sales price of $150,000, homes cost about $100,000 less than those found within downtown Columbia. Despite its quiet, rural ambiance, this neighborhood isn't too far from the conveniences of Columbia. Located just seven miles north of the city, a quick trip there and back is easy, especially with highways 215 and 321 providing quick access. Far North Columbia is also conveniently located near Interstate 20 so residents could get to I-95, Florence or Augusta in little more than an hour. Seven miles east, residents can find their local hospital at Columbia Regional Care Center, while, thirty miles across town, Columbia Metropolitan Airport offers non-stop flights across the central and eastern United States.

While far North Columbia itself isn't home to any shopping or dining, nearby food and store hotspots like Harbison Boulevard or the Village at Sandhill are only a few miles away. This family-friendly chain couples familiar pub fare like burgers and wings with an extensive list of house brews. Closer to the neighborhood, Route 321 takes residents to their local Food Lion where they can find all their everyday groceries and household essentials.
