Quiet Columbus suburb with access to Lakebottom Park and I-185
There’s a quiet community amongst the trees in Wynnton Grove-Wynnton Dell. The neighborhood is one of Columbus's streetcar suburbs, where oak, pine and magnolia trees shade postwar homes on quiet streets. This section of MidTown is highly desirable, with its access to Lakebottom Park events and suburban retail areas while maintaining access to other Columbus neighborhoods. "It's a good connecting neighborhood," says Realtor David Hickox with Keller Williams Realty. Hickox has been selling homes for over five years. "It's between I-185 and Uptown, so you're in a place that feels more central and easier to commute from." Hickox also notes the tight-knit community feel that Wynnton Grove-Wynnton Dell has. "People really love living over here because of how friendly everyone is. There are a lot of events at Lakebottom Park and places to get involved with the community. People are saying hi to each other--that's just how it is."
Midcentury homes mingle with Victorian farmhouses
The leafy streets of Wynnton Grove-Wynnton Dell started with a collection of a mid-19th century farm’s clapboard cottages and farmhouses, a few of which still exist today. Between the 1940s and 1950s, developers built a mix of Cape Cods, brick bungalows and ranch-style homes. "Homes are priced a little higher here than other Wynnton neighborhoods," says Realtor Kat Cannella with Coldwell Banker and Kennon, Parker, Duncan & Davis. Cannella's a Columbus local who's sold homes for about five years. "But you're getting more updated, renovated homes on slightly larger lots." Prices here range from $200,000 to $350,000, typically depending on the renovations completed. These homes have neat, tidy yards shaded with trees to keep cool. Many homes have backyards large enough to have an in-ground pool and entertainment space. The community doesn't feature sidewalks, but it's still where residents go out for an evening stroll or morning jog.
Richards Middle and Columbus High earn A grades
Students attend Muscogee Public Schools, starting with Clubview Elementary, which scored an overall B-plus on Niche. Students then attend Richards Middle, which scored an A-minus. The school offers a range of accelerated education pathways, including an International Baccalaureate program. High schoolers are zoned for Hardaway High, which earned a C, and can also apply to Columbus High, which scored an A-plus.
Lakebottom Park offers community events and activities
Though some residents have backyard pools, the Columbus Aquatic Center offers lap and recreation pools. The community is also close to MidTown's beloved Lakebottom Park. This leafy multi-use space features a playground, tennis courts, a running track and walking trails. There are also baseball diamonds where local Peach Little League games are played. Realtor Alison Cox notes the popularity and variety of events here. "There are holiday festivals, summer movie screenings, stroller clubs and races like the Lakebottom 5K throughout the year. It's a very active and popular park," Cox, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty says. Cox has nearly 20 years of experience selling homes in the area. "People are walking their dogs or jogging, sports teams come over from the high school to practice--a lot is going on."
Easy access to MidTown retail
