How Amercrest blends historic homes with newer development
Even though Amercrest is one of Columbus' Columbus’s oldest neighborhoods, it has changed a lot in recent years. With just over 100 homes, this northeast side area has seen steady redevelopment since the early 2000s, blending newer builds at the American Addition subdivision with midcentury and early 1900s houses. Locals take real pride in where they live, and buyers often notice that the lower-than-average home prices come with a strong sense of community.
Residents' individuality makes their homes their own in Amercrest.

Both historic and 21st-century homes are available
Most homes here date back to the midcentury era or the early 1900s, with Cape Cods and ranch-style houses making up most of what you’ll see. Sidewalks are rare, and lots tend to be smaller with detached garages and plenty of mature trees. Inventory has stayed tight over the years, which makes solid pricing data harder to pin down, but home values in Amercrest usually land in the high $100,000 range, higher than Argyle Park and Devon Triangle but similar to Oriole Heights and Milo-Grogan.
“That’s a much lower price point for sure,” says Erik Hiss, a broker with Keller Williams Capital Partners Realty. “A lot of investors look over there, because your prices are going to be low.” Denise Moore, a Realtor with H.C. Bland Realty Company, points to recent revitalization paired with long-standing neighborhood pride. “There’s a sense of loyalty for people who live there,” she says. “They care about their neighborhood. It’s kept very clean; if you drive through, you’ll see people picking up trash. There’s pride in where they live.”
Amercrest also includes a sizable industrial area, anchored by SA Recycling and United Alloys & Metals, though there is still open land available for future homes. HOAs are not common in this part of the city.
