Blendon Woods, a convenient suburb
Blendon Woods was developed in the latter half of the 20th century and continues to be a desired suburban enclave. The neighborhood attracts families with its highly rated public schools, and locals appreciate direct access to one of Columbus' largest parks. The neighborhood also offers direct access to chain retail and dining options. Nearby thoroughfares allow for a convenient commute to the downtown. "The neighborhood has a private feel, but you're still close to Columbus' best amenities," says Realtor Ahmed Salad, who sells houses in Blendon Woods with Key Realty.

Highly rated public schools
Children often begin their educations at New Albany Primary School, which has a 15-to-1 student-teacher ratio, before moving on to New Albany Middle School. Both schools have A Niche ratings. New Albany High School has a 98% graduation rate and an A-plus Niche rating. The high school is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School, a globally recognized program.

Blendon Woods Metro Park
Expansive greenspaces to the north
The 653-acre Blendon Woods Metro Park is to the neighborhood's immediate north. The forested park offers miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails as well as play areas for children, a disc golf course, open-air shelters, an ice skating pond and a waterfowl refuge surrounding an 11-acre lake. "We're trying to add trail connections that will allow people to walk or bike to the neighborhood," says Jill Snyder, the visitor engagement manager for Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks. Blendon Woods Metro Park hosts year-round programs for children that allow them to learn about native wildlife. Some residents spend afternoons on the fairways of The Golf Club at Little Turtle, just north of the park. Folks play in local baseball and softball leagues at Academy Park, which is to the neighborhood's south.
Condos and single-family houses
"It's affordable enough for a lot of first-time homebuyers and offers enough space for second-time homebuyers," Salad says. "Property appreciation is solid." Homebuyers can purchase 1990s brick condos for between $230,000 and $260,000. Wood-exterior condos from the 1970s are valued between $190,000 and $220,000. There is a selection of 1980s contemporary-style houses that assessors value between $310,000 and $370,000. Split-level dwellings from the same era sell as low as $250,000, and 1990s New Traditional-style houses sell for as much as $450,000. "Pricewise, it's comparable to much of Westerville," Salad says. "It is also comparable to Gahanna. Properties are similar in size and quality. It's more affordable than New Albany."
Modern American housing built in the 1990's and early 2000's are throughout Blendon Woods.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data.
