The Brewery District is a lively Columbus neighborhood
Once the center of Columbus ’ beer manufacturing industry, the Brewery District is now a vibrant neighborhood in the heart of the city. The community’s history is still on display, from the colorful statue of Gambrinus, the King of Beer in historic legends, to the 19th-century breweries renovated into condos. Within minutes, locals can walk to High Street, a hub of bars and restaurants. For some fresh air, you can head to the sprawling Scioto Audubon Park and the Scioto River. Downtown Columbus is just over a mile away, and is reachable by foot, bus or car.

Historic buildings turned into condos and rental units
Many of the red-brick breweries and factories have long since been converted into condos and apartments, with a large population of renters in the neighborhood. There are also contemporary complexes, built since the early 2000s. Some units come with amenities like a fitness center and in-unit laundry. One- and two-bedroom condos can cost between the low $200,000s and the mid-$700,000s. “There’s not a ton of single-family homes, but if they are, they are typically brick, very similar to what you’d find in German Village,” says Brandon Prewitt, Realtor with Re/Max Metro Plus, who has worked in the area for over 20 years. Like German Village, there are Italianate houses and other Victorian-era homes from the early 1900s. Prices for houses and townhouses typically range from the mid-$300,000s to the mid-$600,000s. “The Brewery District is less expensive than German Village by a pretty decent margin,” Prewitt says.

The traditional breweries in the neighborhood closed decades ago, but now there are plenty of bars and restaurants along High Street, including:
Local Cantina, with a new taco introduced every Tuesday.
