Worthington schools and Columbus access meet in Deer Creek
Deer Creek has a suburban feel, with a mix of homes in northern Columbus. A neighborhood park, mature trees, sidewalk-lined streets and quiet cul-de-sacs give it a distinctly residential vibe, with shopping and dining nearby. Addresses here are part of Worthington Schools, yet the area is still within Columbus, a short drive from major highways and employers. Add to those qualities the fact that homes here are competitively priced, and it’s easy to see why Deer Creek is a popular market for homebuyers in Columbus.
Neo-eclectic Tudor Revivals, sometimes called "Neo-Tudors," are an eye-catching style in Deer Park.
Many Deer Creek homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s.

What home styles and prices look like in Deer Creek
Residential real estate in Deer Creek is split between detached single-family houses and duplexes. Most of the homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s, offering plenty of late-20th-century charm through neo-eclectic designs that blend practical, contemporary builds with traditional styles like Tudor, Victorian and Colonial Revival.
“There’s not a lot of turnover and inventory is limited,” says Ron Kendle, broker-owner of RE/MAX Town Center Commercial. “It’s been a seller’s market, with listings selling quickly, often at or above list price.” Duplex units have sold in the low to mid-$200,000s, and single-family home sales have ranged from the mid-$300,000s to the mid-$400,000s. Prices tend to line up with those of surrounding neighborhoods like Worthington Park, while others, such as Worthington Crossing and Worthington Highlands, generally trend higher for single-family homes. “Deer Creek is a great area for new home buyers,” Kendle says. “It still has houses under $400,000.” Those looking at duplexes in the area should also keep in mind monthly HOA fees, which generally cover lawn care, trash pickups and snow removal.

Lower Columbus taxes with access to Worthington schools
The combination of comparatively lower property taxes and a highly rated school system is one that attracts buyers to Deer Creek. “This area in particular is part of Worthington’s school district,” Kendle says. “You get lower Columbus taxes and Worthington Schools.” Deer Creek is a short drive from highly rated schools, including Wilson Hill Elementary School, Kilbourne Middle School and Thomas Worthington High School.
Intradistrict school choice lets students request to attend different Worthington schools, with approval depending on policy and available seats. Some special programs accept students through a lottery. The district does not participate in interdistrict open enrollment.

Interstates 71 and 270 are easy to reach from Deer Creek.
Highway access connects Deer Creek to jobs across Columbus
Deer Creek is fairly car dependent. Mount Carmel St. Ann's is a major hospital and employer nearby, and JPMorgan is another job hub, with the Chase McCoy Center in Polaris South. Driving to Dublin, about 10 miles away, is a straightforward trip down Interstate 270, also known as the Outerbelt. Downtown Columbus is roughly 15 miles south of Deer Creek, and Interstate 71 is the main route. I-270 serves as the southern boundary of the neighborhood, and I-71 is the eastern border. However, accessing either highway requires a little bit of driving, due to the lack of entrance ramps around the neighborhood. Access to Interstate 71 is about 4 miles away and I-270 is just about 3 miles away.
Nearby parks and trails expand outdoor options close to home
Sidewalks make it easy for residents on the south side of the neighborhood to walk or bike over to Pingue Park, a small neighborhood green space with a playground, shaded picnic tables and a basketball half-court. Bigger outdoor spaces offer more recreation close by, including:
Sharon Woods, with access to Schrock Lake access, a nature preserve and trails
Alum Creek Park North, where you can access Alum Creek, an amphitheater and a playground
Lazelle Woods Park, home to sports facilities, a community center and a nature preserve
Highbanks Metro Park, which borders the Olentangy River and is home to bluff overlooks and trails

Grocery stores, chain restaurants and Polaris are close by
Kroger is in a shopping plaza just across Worthington Woods Boulevard, within a mile of most Deer Creek homes. Chain restaurants share the parking lot, along with Dollar Tree and some local businesses. For dining out, the most obvious choice is a short drive up Sancus Boulevard. “Polaris Fashion Place has a little bit of everything,” Kendle says. “From high-end restaurants to laidback grills, from Eddie Merlot’s to Chick-fil-A.” Options for retail therapy include:
