The ease and excitement of Discovery District

Discovery District is located in the heart of downtown Columbus, spanning 70 blocks between East Fulton Street and Interstate 71. The neighborhood works as a hub of artistic and cultural innovation thanks to the presence of The Columbus Museum of Art and the Columbus College of Arts & Design. Its quick access to local parks, bars and events, paired with its walkability, provides its residents with plenty to discover.

The Hills Market and an arcade bar

Residents enjoy morning strolls to nearby cafés like Roosevelt Coffeehouse and the popular Brioso Roastery, both of which sit along East Long Street. Less than a block away sits The Hills Market, a “trendy market where fresh groceries and natural goods can be picked up,” explains Megan McClung, a real estate agent with Core Realty Connection and resident of downtown Columbus. Residents travel to Lennox Town Center for retail needs, located off North 4th Street, a 5-mile drive north. However, evening walks to local bars like Pins Mechanical Company, which is home to both an outdoor patio and indoor arcade games, are convenient thanks to its location.

Holiday Trolley Hop and local concerts

The Bluestone, situated along East Capital Street, is where residents head for live entertainment. The 120-year-old church was recently renovated into an event venue that hosts several musical concerts throughout the year and has ample parking for those who are not within walking distance. An annual tradition of the Discovery District is the Holiday Trolley Hop. Every winter, the district hosts free holiday-themed trolley rides that run through the neighborhood, including stops for activities for all ages, tours and local shopping. The area can also be explored through its regular art walks, which place a spotlight on the artistic establishments found in the neighborhood.

Condos and well-lit streets

The majority of homes in Discovery District come in the form of condos and townhomes built in the late 90s and early 2000s, as well as the occasional American Foursquare-style homes built throughout the 20th century. Thanks to its established sidewalks, “the neighborhood is extremely walkable,” shares McClung. “Especially thanks to the streets being well-lit.” Though an urban setting, trees are found sprinkled along sidewalks, specifically along East Long Street, which works as the community’s main line road. Those looking to move into the neighborhood can take advantage of the variety of home prices. Potential homebuyers can expect a range from $300,000 for a one-bedroom condo to $700,000 for a larger four-bedroom home. Depending on the size and attached amenities, newer builds can exceed $1 million.
