Fodor is a Columbus neighborhood that feels more like it’s a part of New Albany, thanks in part to its highly rated school district. The community is surrounded by parks and a nature preserve, making it easy to spend time outdoors. You can walk to Market Square for a nice dinner with friends and community events, and a grocery store is conveniently located in the neighborhood. Highway access means commuters have no problems getting around, whether they’re heading to or to one of the employers in New Albany.
Colonial Revivals and other homes have high property values
Landscaped yards and wide sidewalks line Fodor’s streets. Most homes were built in the 1990s and early 2000s, but the architecture references older Federal and Georgian styles. You can also find plenty of Colonial Revivals, Cape Cods and modern farmhouses. Prices generally range from the mid-$500,000s to the mid-$900,000s. The median single-family home price is in the low $700,000s, which is higher than nearby communities like Central College. Realtor Kandis Hall with New Albany Realty, who has nearly 10 years of experience in the area, says that Fodor’s home selection and central location keep the property values high. About half of the residents rent.

Many people move to Fodor for highly rated New Albany schools
Hall says, “The neighborhood’s biggest attraction is the New Albany school district.” Although it is part of Columbus, Fodor is zoned for the highly rated New Albany-Plains School District. All of the schools are on one campus, including New Albany High School. Students have plenty of opportunities to earn college credit, including Advanced Placement and College Credit Plus courses. Both the district and the high school earn an A-plus from Niche.
Downtown Columbus is about 20 minutes away
Besides the school district, Hall says that easy access to nearby amenities is a major draw. The neighborhood borders New Albany, and you can walk or ride your bike to some of the closer shops and restaurants. Driving is more convenient for longer trips, especially thanks to major highways such as State Route 161 and Interstate 270. Downtown Columbus is just over 15 miles away (about 20 minutes).
Many residents work in New Albany, which is home to employers such as Aetna Better Health and Meta. More jobs are on the way, with an Intel manufacturing campus that will open around 2030.

Nearby parks and a nature preserve encourage people to get outside
Walking trails connect Fodor to the many parks surrounding the neighborhood. Some of the nearby options include:
Taylor Farm Park, a nearly-100-acre park with wetlands, a playground and a community garden
Wexner Community Park, which has athletic fields and picnic tables
Rose Run Park, where walking trails and play areas bring some nature to Market Square
Within the community, people can hike through the New Albany Wetland & Nature Preserve, which is over 80 acres of wetlands and meadows. The school district uses the preserve to help teach kids about the environment. Golfers play at the private, 27-hole course at the New Albany Country Club.

Walking trails can be found all over Inniswood Metro Gardens.

Market Square is also home to the Healthy New Albany Farmers Market, which is outdoors on Thursday evenings from June through August. Vendors move their fresh produce and baked goods indoors for the winter market, which is on the first Saturday of the month from November through March. Otherwise, you can get your groceries from the neighborhood’s Kroger or the nearby Market District.
Fox in the Snow Cafe is a bakery and coffee shop serving up rustic-style baked goods and hand-poured drinks.
Jet's Pizza is located just around the corner from Kroger off of Hampstead Village Center Way.

Residents look forward to New Albany events
The farmers market isn’t the only event that residents look forward to. Every May, people come together for the annual New Albany Founders Day to celebrate the community. Programming includes a parade, carnival rides and an artisan market. There are also recurring events like the free summer concert series at the Charleen & Charles Hinson Amphitheater from June through early August.
You can also head to the Arena District for concerts and sporting events at venues like Nationwide Arena and Kemba Live.
