The Preserve is a master-planned community in northeast Columbus that blends a suburban atmosphere with access to city amenities. Many families move to the area because they can send their kids to highly rated New Albany schools while paying lower tax rates than if they lived in the suburb itself. The neighborhood is also next to the sprawling New Albany Country Club. Parks, shops and restaurants are a short drive away.
Well-kept lawns and sidewalks line The Preserve’s wide roads and cul-de-sacs. Most of the neighborhood consists of single-family homes, including New Traditional and Colonial Revival styles from the early 2000s. There are also condos available, including free-standing units located in Homestead at the Preserve. Prices generally range from the low $200,000s and the mid-$600,000s. The median single-family home price is in the high $400,000s, which is higher than in nearby communities like Blendon Woods and Trouville. Homeowners association fees help cover the maintenance of common areas, keeping the neighborhood looking clean. “It’s a positively idyllic community,” says Realtor Mary Sunderman with The Sunderman Group at Keller Williams Capital Partners, who has been selling homes since 1993. “It’s really a beautiful place to live.” Over half of the residents rent.
Besides the homes, Sunderman says that there is one reason people move to the area. “It’s the schools,” she says. The Preserve falls within the highly rated New Albany-Plain Local School District, which earns an A-plus from Niche. All the schools in the district share a single campus. At the A-plus-rated New Albany High School, teens can enroll in Advanced Placement and College Credit Plus courses to earn college credit before graduation.
The Pavilion is at the heart of the neighborhood. This scenic green space features a gazebo and park benches within walking distance of most homes. Nearby, Thompson Park has a playground and athletic fields. Within the park is the New Albany Tennis Center, where you can rent out the court or sign up for private lessons. Golfers can join the private New Albany Country Club to play on the 27-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Most people rely on cars to get around. Morse Road leads to U.S. Route 62, which is a direct route to , about 15 miles (20 minutes) away. Many commuters work in New Albany, where employers like Meta and Aetna Better Health are less than 10 miles (15 minutes) away. Central Ohio Transit Authority buses stop along Hamilton and Morse roads.
