Framingham is a low-key community between North and East Linden
Tucked between North Linden and East Linden, Framingham is a quiet community in northern Columbus. Once better known for its farmland and rural atmosphere, the community still hangs onto its past with woodlands and Alum Creek on its east side. Ohio Route 3 makes it easy to reach nearby jobs and shopping, and home prices here are often lower than in surrounding neighborhoods.

How housing prices and layout vary north to south
Most homes in Framingham were built in the 1970s and onward, though there’s still a sizeable chunk of midcentury-era designs from the 1940s and ‘50s. Cape Cods, split-levels and ranch-style homes are standard for the area, many with relatively recent updates. “You’re going to have more older homes,” says Thomas Hamrick, a Realtor with Keller Williams Consultants Realty. “More kitchens from the 90s.” Homes are typically older near the south side of the neighborhood, where street parking is the norm and sidewalks are rare. Lots often have detached garages or other outbuildings with back alley access. Houses here generally sell between the low $100,000s and the mid-$200,000s. Homes in the north side are typically more contemporary, including the occasional 21st-century build. Attached garages with driveways are common, and sidewalks create a more walkable setting. These places tend to range from the mid-to-high $200,000s, depending on features or updates. The median price for a single-family home is in the high $100,000s: generally on par with North Linden and Arlington Park, but less expensive than Walnut Creek, Bridgeview, Easton and Somerset.

What to know about Columbus City Schools and enrollment
The area is zoned for Columbus City Schools, with Innis Elementary School just north in Walnut Creek. This makes for a convenient walk for many kids living in the northern end of the neighborhood. Students are assigned a neighborhood school, but families can try for magnet programs or other campuses through a districtwide lottery, along with some open enrollment options. Where you land usually comes down to lottery results, available seats and each program’s rules.
Easy access to Route 3, Easton and downtown Columbus
Framingham’s location is seen as one of its biggest selling points, Hamrick says. “It’s got lots of trees and it feels more rural, but then it opens up into Easton. It’s very unique.” Route 3 is on the neighborhood’s west side, making road trips fairly straightforward. Columbus is about 10 miles away, generally making for a 20-minute drive, depending on traffic. Many residents prefer the bus, and the Central Ohio Transit Authority has several stops along Agler Road.

Local restaurants and shopping options close to home
The Northern Lights Shopping Center and Amos Shopping Center are just outside of the community in North Linden and feature an assortment of clothing stores, services and fast food. For longer shopping trips, many locals head to Easton Town Center, just 5 miles away. One of the largest malls in Ohio, this area has hundreds of retailers, big-box stores and franchise restaurants. Framingham-area restaurants offer a variety of flavors, often in casual settings:
Big Mal’s Linden Cafe leans into hearty soul food with dishes like fried chicken, pork chops and classic sides.
Florin Coffee serves straightforward espresso drinks and pastries in a simple neighborhood setting.
Ena’s Caribbean Kitchen offers Jamaican-style cooking with jerk chicken and house-made sauces.
The Alum Creek trail is popular with hikers and bikers alike.
How locals use Innis Park and the Alum Creek Trail
Innis Park covers about 100 acres of open green space with several athletic fields and views of Alum Creek. It has a half-mile paved walking path and a trailhead for the Alum Creek Trail. Hamrick notes that locals can hop on the trail and bike into Columbus for a commute. Champions Golf Course is nearby, with rolling hills and mature trees that add both scenery and a bit of challenge.
