Gould Park is an inviting spread of homes surrounded by trees.
A rural feel with access to urban life
Interstate 270 to the west and the over-650-acre Blendon Woods Metro Park to the east, Gould Park is nexus between the city and nature. Mature trees shade the lawns, which are large enough to host backyard cookouts. The neighborhood’s proximity to the Metro Park means many of the lots back up to a wooded area. “There are homes that were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but there are also some older homes in the more rural part of the neighborhood, where the houses are further apart and there’s more green space,” says Realtor Aimee Calvert, who sells property in the neighborhood with RE/MAX Premier Choice. Neighbors enjoy summer evenings at Wyandotte Winery, where live music and lighting bugs fill the night. Commuters appreciate direct access to Downtown Columbus.
Sprawling greenspaces within and around Gould Park
Gould Park flourishes with wildlife due to its proximity to expansive greenspaces. “Sometimes we get a flock of turkeys that go through our backyard. We’ve seen lots of deer and hear owls quite often,” says resident Robin Coolidge. Cherrybottom Park runs along Big Walnut Creek. The conservation area does not have athletic fields, playgrounds or restrooms. It does have a nature trail leading to Big Walnut Creek. The 653-acre Blendon Woods Metro Park borders the community. Cross-country skiers and hikers can take advantage of trails that run for miles. There are also multiple play areas for children, open-air shelters, a disc golf course, an ice skating pond and a waterfowl refuge. “Because of the park, people feel like they are a little more in the country than they are," says Realtor Jay Stanley, who sells homes in the area with The Stanley Team. The park has year-round programs to educate children in conservation and wildlife. Residents can also hit the fairways of The Golf Club at Little Turtle, just north of the park.

Gould Park is home to Wyandotte Winery, a perfect place to celebrate a milestone or birthday.
A winery, downtown entertainment and Buckeyes football
Central Ohio’s oldest urban winery is located in Gould Park. Wyandotte Winery, a community staple since 1977, is an intimate event space. All wine is fermented on the premises using Ohio grapes. This winery is open Thursday through Saturday, and it’s located in the heart of the neighborhood. The venue hosts local musicians and food trucks on Friday nights. Gould Park residents travel 15-½ miles to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes face off against other Big Ten Conference football teams at Ohio Stadium. Easton Town Center has an AMC theater. Musicians like Justin Timberlake and Bruce Springsteen perform at the downtown's Nationwide Arena.
Mid-century and late 20th-century housing
The neighborhood's windy residential blocks are shaded by old-growth trees. Most lawns are large enough for residents to host backyard parties and cookouts when the weather is warm. One-story and two-story New Traditional-style homes range in price from $350,000 to $425,000. Most of these houses were built in the 1990s and early 2000s. Closer to Big Walnut Creek, some houses date back to the 1940s and ‘50s and are priced between $100,000 and $220,000. The houses within this price range are mainly ranch styles and split levels. “The homes along the creek sometimes get affected by flooding, but that hasn’t happened in quite a while,” Coolidge says. Most houses have attached garages. About 57% of residents rent their houses. According to Risk Factor, 41% of properties in Gould Park are likely to be severely affected by flooding in the next 30 years.
