Neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio
Franklin County 43201, 43210

Historic architecture is all around
That part of the neighborhood has narrow streets and is an example of an early 20th-century residential area. Victorian and Foursquare homes are standard features in that small section with brick construction, front porches and roof dormers. Beyond Neil Avenue and heading east toward High Street are various single-family 20th-century homes, townhouses, small apartment complexes and multi-family homes that Ohio State University students mainly rent. "They're mainly medical and graduate students," says William Murdock, the NECKO Neighborhood group facilitator and a neighborhood resident since 1994. "The rest is a diverse mix of professionals, families and retirees." Further north on High Street, there are more campus buildings and housing. The single-family homes are between $350,000 and $550,000. Many homes in the more historical part of the neighborhood are at least $500,000 and can be as much as $800,000.Schools with a good student-to-teacher ratio
The Columbus City School District serves the students in Necko, and the system receives a C-minus grade overall with a 15-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio on Niche. With the same C-minus grade, Hubbard Elementary School does get a B-minus grade for the school’s teaching staff. Dominion Middle School is the only middle school in the district with a center serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The school gets a C grade with a 17-to-1 student-teacher ratio. Through a partnership with Kroger, the Whetstone High School Parent-Teacher Association has a program where a portion of the grocery bill will help the school. The school has a C-plus grade on Niche. The Columbus Metropolitan Library system operates the Northside Branch. The location on High Street has three meeting rooms, four study rooms and public computer access.A breakfast staple popular with the OSU crowd
With the proximity to The Ohio State University campus, the businesses tend to be more college-student-themed, including the Ohio State University Bookstore, where students can buy textbooks for their classes or scarlet and grey Buckeye apparel can be purchased for the next athletic event. HangOverEasy is a popular OSU student hangout whose motto is that Breakfast Cures All, but they also serve lunch. It’s quite the experience inside, with vintage posters hanging on the walls and a wall-size chalkboard. Kroger on High Street has a bakery, deli, pharmacy and aisles of food items for home essentials.
Walking distance to OSU
Several stops serve the Central Ohio Transit Authority bus routes, including Neil Avenue and High Street. The Ohio State University campus is just to the north, including two miles to Ohio Stadium, where you can be among the 100,000 cheering on the Buckeye football team in the fall. " I never drive to Ohio State football games. It's easier to walk," Murdock says. Downtown Columbus is about 3 miles to the south, and it will take a little over 10 minutes to get to John Glenn Columbus International Airport.Campus park
On The Ohio State University campus is the Phyllis A. Jones Legacy Park. It’s located at 10th Avenue and Dodd Drive and includes a small children’s playground and plenty of open green space to stretch out and relax. It’s located near The Ohio State University Wexler Medical Center. Thompson Park, located on Dennison Avenue, has a basketball court, playground, and a recreation center for indoor exercise.
