Choice of houses or condos
Most homes were built in the late 1980s, featuring a two-story contemporary style. "The materials used to build the homes are natural, so you'll see stone, stucco and wood, and not any vinyl siding," Robinson says. These homes will be in the $550,000 to $750,000 range, with the minimum amount of space being 2,500 square feet. Some houses have multiple fireplaces, and some back up to a portion of the over 1,200-acre Highbanks Metro Park. A barrier fence separates the park from the backyards of those homes. "You can see the deer in the park from your backyard, but they won't eat your garden. There's a barrier fence between your property and the park, and it's too high for them to jump over," Robinson says. The Mount Air condo community is a small pocket of two-bedroom and two-bathroom shared-wall condos with over 1,500 square feet of space. Some of the units have a view of the Olentangy River and the woods. The condos generally run between $350.000 and $400,000.Hike by a river
Highbanks Metropark is nestled within the forested section to the west and near the Olentangy State Scenic River. This 1,204-acre park offers scenic views and walking trails. The Olentangy River Parklands Residents can walk, hike, bike or stroll along the multipurpose trail of The Olentangy River Parklands. This 100-acre parkland also features playgrounds, tennis courts, a soccer field and a skate park. People can also bring their kayaks and canoes to the river launch site. At Zip Zone Outdoor Adventures, appropriate for visitors aged seven and up, customers are taken on a thrilling zip-line ride over the treetops. Worthington Hills Country Club is for members only and has an 18-hole course, 15 tennis courts, a pool for toddlers. If hitting and chasing a golf ball isn't your thing and you want more thrills, Zip Zone Outdoor Adventures may be more your speed. You can experience the thrill of gliding through 20 acres of forested landscape, traveling among the trees from platform to platform.High school offers an event for artists
Worthington City School District serves the community of Northwoods. Worthington Hills Elementary, McCord Middle School and Kilbourne High School boast A-minus grades. Arts in Action is an annual high school event where students can publicly display their artwork.Near major highways
One of the draws of living in Northwoods is its location. "It's a hidden gem because of its proximity to Interstate 270 and Route 23 (High Street)," Robinson says. "It's only about a mile-and-a-half from the interchange, making it very accessible to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, Ohio State University and downtown [a 14-mile drive]." says Robinson. Ohio Public Transit Association has bus stops in the community, including along Vantage Drive.Walk to restaurants
There's a Kroger at The Shoppes at Worthington, a large indoor shopping and dining mall. El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant is within walking distance of most homes. Residents can drive to Worthington for additional dining options. Some of Pingle's favorites include Aladdin's, renowned for its healthy meal options, and Pies & Pints, known for its pizza and beer menu.
