Getting around Olentangy Commons is easiest by car. State Route 315, also known as the Olentangy Freeway, runs along the neighborhood's edge, providing a direct path to The Ohio State University, about 6 miles south, and downtown Columbus, less than 10 miles south. During rush hour, drives to campus stretch from under 10 minutes to about 15, while heading downtown takes 15 to 30 minutes. The freeway also connects to major highways, including Interstates 70, 270 and 670. Interstate 670 makes quick work of getting to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, about 15 miles away, or 20 to 30 minutes in heavy traffic.

Olentangy Commons is served by Columbus City Schools, which offers school choice through an annual lottery. Students are assigned to a neighborhood school but may apply to attend other schools across the district, including magnet and alternative programs, subject to availability.
