Polaris South is a bustling suburban enclave in north Columbus near a major employment center, a premier shopping district and sought-after schools. With apartments, condos and homes tucked away near a major highway, it’s only a short drive from the city’s downtown district.

The neighborhood features a subdivision of one- and two-story, single-family homes with two and three bedrooms, attached garages and small yards. Its quiet, narrow streets are laid out in a grid pattern, with parallel parking available. Nearby, you’ll find luxury condos and apartment buildings, including The Edge at Polaris, a gated, upscale apartment community with a heated swimming pool and fitness center. Home and condo prices typically range from $200,000 to $300,000.

Students attend Alum Creek Elementary School, Berkshire Middle School and Olentangy Orange High School, which is listed in the top 600 high schools in America by U.S. News and World Report. The Olentangy Public School District routinely achieves high rankings on Ohio’s annual report card, and is ranked “above average” by GreatSchools, a California-based nonprofit that provides information about United States school districts. Polaris South is bordered to the south by Worthington Christian School, a private, K-12 academy and two-time winner of the prestigious National Blue Ribbon award.

Polaris Fashion Place and Towne Center, a regional shopping and entertainment destination, is just north of the neighborhood. With boutique shopping, dining and department stores, you’ll find anything and everything you need there. Major grocery and department chains like Costco, Target, Kroger and Ikea are highlights of the town center, as are anchor tenants Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Public Lands outdoor store. It consistently ranks in the top 25 attractions in Columbus on Tripadvisor. It’s also home to Big Air Trampoline Park, Star Lanes bowling alley and the only Topgolf driving range in central Ohio.

Next door is McCoy Center, an office building occupied by JPMorgan Chase bank, a major regional employer with around 10,000 employees. At 2 million square feet, it’s the largest office building in Columbus and the second largest single-tenant office building in America, behind the Pentagon.

Realtor Koteswara Bodipudi of Red 1 Realty said Polaris South is “drawing a younger crowd” because of its proximity to the shopping center, nearby highways and McCoy Center. “Most of the people in that area work at Chase,” Bodipudi said.

Trails and outdoor activities are always within reach if you live in Polaris. Highbanks Metro Park, named for a lofty, 100-foot-high shale bluff overlooking the scenic Olentangy River, features nearly a dozen paths. It’s the most visited park in the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks system, drawing around 1 million visitors every year. Sharon Woods Metro Park, a nearby forest sanctuary with several interconnecting trails, is also an excellent place to walk or ride a bike. Inniswood Metro Gardens, an extravagant, 123-acre botanical garden, is 6 miles away.

For a night out, head over to Uptown Westerville, a few miles east of Polaris South. There, you can take a stroll along vibrant State Street, where you’ll find historic buildings, boutique shops, casual and fine dining, breweries and art galleries.

With Interstate 71 a short drive away, Polaris South is just 10 miles from Ohio State University and 15 miles from major attractions in downtown Columbus like the Arena District and the Short North arts district.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
