A convenient location in northwest Columbus
Set in the center of northwest Columbus, The Gables is valued for its location, particularly with students and faculty of the nearby university. "This is a great place for anyone looking for homes near Ohio State," says Luyang Yin, a Realtor with Red 1 Realty. "We've had parents buying homes for their kids—it keeps them from paying for an expensive dorm room." Situated between the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, this northwest Columbus neighborhood mainly offers multi-family housing. However, proximity to highly rated public schools and single-family homes in good condition make the area prized by locals.

Condos and Neo-Colonials
Homes in the Gables were built in the 1970s and '80s, with a variety of styles lining the streets. Neo-colonial and contemporary Craftsmen designs share blocks with midcentury-inspired ranch styles and split levels. Details like exposed beams, wood siding and brick exteriors accent these houses, giving the neighborhood a diverse look. Lots generally start at a quarter acre, with tree-filled backyards and neatly trimmed lawns. Prices range from the high $200,000s to the low $400,000s.
Just 25 percent of the area's homes are single-family, and condos are common. These are priced between the low $100,000s for 1,000 square feet and the low $300,000s for larger units with attached garages. "Those condos are quick sales," says Yin. "The moment they go up for sale, they're gone."

Served by two school districts
Two different school districts split The Gables down the middle, with Dublin City Schools serving its west side and Columbus City Schools covering its east. Dublin students begin at Wright Elementary before attending Davis Middle School. Finally, they'll enroll at Dublin Scioto High School, which rates in the top 20 college prep public high schools in Ohio on Niche. Niche gives all three scores an A-minus.
Columbus students attend Gables Elementary, which has a C, before going to Ridgeview Middle School, which has a C-minus. Finally, students on the east side enroll at B-rated Centennial High School, which reliably receives the highest rating possible from the Ohio Department of Education every year. Older students can apply to Ohio State University, which ranks in the top 20 public universities in the country.

Future site of West Case Park
Two blocks south of Bethel Road, Northcrest Park has basketball and tennis courts on its 18-acre green space. With four baseball diamonds and over a mile of trails, the 49-acre Thompson Park hosts Upper Arlington's annual Summer Celebration. Locals can connect onto the Olentangy Greenway Trail for river views and a winding path that leads all the way downtown.
Directly to the neighborhood's west is the future site of the 58-acre West Case Park. Formerly a sheep farm for Ohio State's Agricultural Department, designs for the new park are based on community wants and recommendations. A Vision Plan for the park was recently released, with plans for a central multi-purpose field, a library and preserved wetlands. West Case Park will open in 2026.

The OhioHealth Riverside Hospital is less than five miles southeast. "When people come here, it's usually for the location," says Yin. "You can connect to just about any of the biggest thoroughfares—you're not far from anything."
The neighborhood is connected by sidewalks that make the area reasonably walkable, even to the nearby Crown Point shopping center. Public transit is available through the Central Ohio Transit Authority, which has a bus line all over Franklin County.
