Residential enclave with recreation and shopping nearby
Welcome to West Glen, a collection of gated communities and single-family subdivisions with tree-lined streets and glistening canals. While larger housing lots may provide a sense of seclusion, the community's neighbors remain tight-knit. “West Glen families are so close they watch over each other,” says Debi Benson P.A., Realtor with 20 years of experience at RE/MAX. “There is a tremendous pride of ownership in West Glen.” This tremendous pride comes from the well-built houses and walkable parks that populate the multiple residential areas of the neighborhood. And with major shopping and dining centers nearby, homeowners are never far from the modern amenities of Southern Florida.
Head to the Coral Square Shopping Mall
The Publix at Lakeview Center is conveniently located, so residents can find quick weekly groceries. “West Glen is more of a residential area,” Benson says. “But it's within a 5 to 10-minute drive of great shopping and dining.” The Coral Square Shopping Mall anchors the neighborhood’s retail scene and offers patrons over 120 stores, including Macy’s and Old Navy. Visitors can also catch a movie at the Paragon Theaters nearby. El Cubano Sandwich Shop is a local favorite, while Runyon’s on West Sample Road serves up heaping prime rib in an old-school steakhouse setting. HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital is 4 miles away and was recognized by Healthgrades in 2024 as one of the top 100 hospitals for orthopedic surgery in America. Church By the Glades serves the area.
Miles of hiking through the Everglades
The Sawgrass Trail at Atlantic Boulevard sits at the neighborhood's edge and offers miles of hiking through extensive wetlands. Sunsets along the trail are popular as the view west is unobstructed, but parking can go fast. Riverside Park has multiple athletic facilities, including pickleball courts and a walking path while certain gated communities have private recreational amenities and clubhouse centers. Golfers flock to the public Eagle Trace Golf Club for 18 holes across rolling fairways and island greens. The club hosted the Honda Classic from 1984 to 1991 and currently hosts the Champions Tour Q-School Final Stage every other year. A day on the beach is a straight shot east at Pompano Beach Fisher Family Pier.
Spanish-Revival homes and lakefront estates
There is a wide variety of housing types split between gated and non-gated communities. In the neighborhood's southern end, Spanish-Revival single-family builds sit in front of well-manicured lawns with private swimming pools in the backyard. Mariner’s Cove offers gated living with lakefront estate homes and boat docks. Multifamily options can be found at The Palms Point Condominium Complex. No matter where residents end up, they will be surrounded by classic Floridian architecture and towering palm trees. “The homes are a little older, so you get more square footage for the dollar,” Benson says. “It's very family-oriented and great for first-time homebuyers.” Prices for a three-bedroom house begin at $450,000, while larger six-bedroom beds top out at $1.5 million.
Highly rated Broward County Public Schools
The Broward County Public School District serves the neighborhood. Younger students start at Riverside Elementary and Ramblewood Middle School, both of which received a B rating on Niche. Riverside Elementary maintains an impressive student-teacher ratio of 17:1 and was awarded the Golden School Award by the Florida Department of Education in 2020. J.P. Taravella High School is a short drive east of the neighborhood and received a B rating on Niche. The school offers dual enrollment and an Advanced International Certificate of Education Diploma in conjecture with Cambridge International Examinations. Glades Christian Academy is a private school option for parents to consider.
Coral Springs Celebration
West Glen residents are close to the numerous events held throughout the year by the city of Coral Springs. Fireworks illuminate the live entertainment below during the Fourth of July Celebration. The annual event is popular with visitors traveling from all over to watch the grand fireworks display. Other celebrations include Oktoberfest and a Festival of the Arts.
The Sawgrass Expressway and public transportation
West Glen is 20 miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale and 25 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The neighborhood is car-dependent, but Broward County Transit services numerous bus routes throughout. The Sawgrass Expressway runs parallel to the neighborhood.
