Cartwright Ranch is a new community coming to Crandall

Cartwright Ranch is a new 1,300-acre housing development under construction on the outskirts of Crandall . Located less than 30 miles from Dallas, Cartwright Ranch is an upcoming master-planned community that’s building nearly 4,000 new homes in Kaufman County. While the neighborhood will have several on-site amenities, residents of Cartwright Ranch will also have easy access to local schools, shops and restaurants nearby in Crandall.

Traditional homes under construction in Cartwright Ranch

D.R. Horton and Lennar have built nearly 400 homes so far, most of which sit on small lots close to the highway. Most single-family homes feature traditional architecture, but future construction does include a few townhomes and pueblo-style homes as well. The community offers one- and two-story floor plans, many of which have eco-friendly or Smart Home features. Prices range from the lower $200,000s to the mid-$300,000s.

Cartwright Ranch’s future on-site amenities

There will be a couple of parks and green spaces by the community lake, as well as a roundabout plaza where residents can meet up for small events and special gatherings. There will also be a recreational center with sports facilities, a swimming pool and a fire pit. Children can have fun at the local playground, and pet owners will let their canines off the leash at the nearby dog park.

A convenient highway between Kaufman, Crandall and Dallas

Residents are minutes away from Downtown Crandall thanks to U.S. Route 175 running along the south side of the community. If drivers stay on the highway for another 25 miles, it’ll take them to Downtown Dallas, where Dallas Area Rapid Transit buses and rail lines provide public transportation throughout the city. The closest 24-hour hospital is roughly 8 miles away in Texas Health Presbyterian Kaufman. Both Dallas Love Field and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport are over 30 miles away.

Outdoor attractions around Kaufman County

Cartwright Ranch is also close to several attractions around the county, including:

  • Rusted Rail Golf Club, which features an 18-hole golf course that’s open to the public
  • RPM Speedway, a quarter-mile dirt track that hosts racing events from March through October
  • Cousins Paintball, an outdoor paintball park that also hosts airsoft and laser tag matches
  • Legends Equestrian Center, which offers horseback riding and polo lessons
Rusted Rail also has a wedding venue and a patio inside the club that hosts live music and karaoke nights.

Crandall ISD offers college and career readiness

Students attend schools in the Crandall Independent School District, which offers dual enrollment and college- and career-readiness programs. Noble-Reed Elementary School serves kindergarten through sixth grade and has a Gifted and Talented program. Heartland Middle School is notable for its maker space labs that give students hands-on experience in science and technology. Crandall High School offers advanced placement courses and career and technical education. A 25-acre school will also be built inside the community in the near future.

Local restaurants and stores in Crandall

Over 114 acres are set aside for future commercial space by the highway. Residents will also drive into town for most of their dining, with local establishments such as:

  • 1880 Coffee Company, which offers a variety of espresso and tea beverages
  • Cotton Gin Crandall, which serves burgers, wings and pizza on its outdoor patio
  • El Jacalito, a Tex-Mex restaurant that’s been serving the area for over 15 years
  • Jaimes Bistro, locally famous for its patty melts and country-fried steak sandwiches
  • Tuscany’s Pizza Pasta, an Italian restaurant that also has hot subs and stuffed pizza pockets
Rusted Rail also has an on-site bar and grill that offers bang bang shrimp, nachos and funnel cake fries with chocolate sauce. The Crandall Thrift Center features a variety of used jewelry, trinkets and apparel. Locals can go grocery shopping at the Brookshire Brothers store in town.
