There’s always something for you to do when you live in Northern Virginia, and the Cardinal neighborhood is no exception. This residential area is primarily single-family homes but is close enough to everything in Dale City that you’ll never feel like you’re missing out.
Cardinal’s standalone homes are stunning. These craftsmen and colonial-styled houses range from $600,000 to $800,000 and come with manicured lawns, attached garages, and a driveway for your vehicle. Price will vary based on how many bedrooms and amenities you desire. “We have a lot of options for people trying to get into a home,” says Cindy Cajas, a realtor with Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc. “There are different areas in the neighborhood that can accommodate for more space or more bedrooms if you need it.”
If you’re looking for something with more convenient pricing, brick and vinyl town houses can be found in subdivisions throughout the neighborhood. The median price for a two-to-three story town house is $425,000, and some will also come with an attached garage.
Families in Cardinal have access to some of the best schools in the Prince William County Public School System. Fannie W. Fitzgerald Elementary is above average in academic progress, and Rippon Middle is a Specialty School for math and science. Potomac High School has a B-minus rating on Niche and is recognized as a School of Excellence for its educational programs that set students up for success in their career development.
While the Cardinal neighborhood itself is mostly made up of residential homes, people can enjoy outdoor recreation right up the road at Cloverdale Park. Kick a soccer ball around on the fields or play a game of horseshoe at the pits. Cardinal residents will also travel southwest to spend the day at Dolphin Beach, a sandy space along Lake Montclair created for swimming and sunbathing. “It’s very popular in the summertime because of the walking trails and beach access,” Cajas says.
On the weekends, some will drive 5 miles outside the neighborhood to visit the Dale City Farmers Market, located right outside the Dale City Center Plaza. Browse through the 50+ vendors and purchase tomatoes, lettuce and other locally grown produce and meat selections.
For everyday products and services, Ashdale Plaza Shopping Center will have everything you need. La Azteca Latina is a grocery store and butcher shop with international ingredients and ready-to-go food. While there are plenty of chain restaurants in the area, locals enjoy grabbing a bite to eat at Sabor Chicken, known for their pupusas and plantains.
If you’ve got a craving for seafood, Vernon & Steve Crabs is a roadside outpost selling steamed crab bushels and pounds of shrimp that you can pick up and take home for dinner. Their warm and friendly personalities add to your experience.
There’s a lot to do in Dale City, and the Cardinal neighborhood is perfectly located for you to explore it all while living comfortably in a home you love.
