Ten miles from downtown Dallas is Alger Park-Ash Creek, a residential neighborhood with W.H. Gatson Middle School located in the southwestern section. The community is also close to popular shopping, like Casa Linda Plaza, and one of Dallas’ main parks, White Rock Lake Park. One of Dallas’ older neighborhoods, it was first created in 1950’s as two separate neighborhoods that eventually formed into the current Alger Park-Ash Creek. The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) acts as one of the borders, with trains occasionally coming through. Alger Park-Ash Creek is older, with most homes built in the 1950s. Ranch-style homes are the main housing style throughout the community, although there are some duplexes.
